Sovereign of the Seas

4 Night Bahamas (Port Canaveral Roundtrip)

Sail date: June 30, 2008

Ship: Sovereign of the Seas

Cabin type: Inside

Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Reviewed: 14 years ago

Review summary

The ship is older and will be reassigned to RC's new Poland fleet later this season. The fact that ships have gotten bigger and better since 1988 leaves the SS in a difficult comparison. It was in great shape for having been around 20 years and sailing with some 4 million guests. However, that doesn't overshadow the fact that I've been on better ships and was left wanting for more.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

I have been to Nassau 3 times too many so it was a real bummer to learn we'd be there an extra 2/3 day because of the storm. There is not much to say except buy your gifts here and maybe go over to Paradise Island and hang out.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

5 out of 5
We missed it the 1st day because of a storm but did return the last day. It was really nice - a higlight of the trip! Thought the local vendors on the island were unfriendly and had prices that were more expensive. The ocean is rocky and/or shallow so non-swimmers would not like it. But great for laying out. They do a nice lunch buffet included in the day.
