Ports of call

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

The snorkeling was average or below average. To be deemed a "sanctuary" was far fetched - one only had to look to see man's interference with the way a coral reef or seagrass bed develops. There weren't many fish and the usnken boat was so far inland that it was hard to see becasue of all the turbulance in the water from untrained snorklers. The "professional trainers" were terrible. All they offered was directions on how to inflate the life jacket and blow out the snorkel - not tips on how to handle the panicy feeling first time snorklers get, how to move about land in the fins or keep goggles from clouding up.

It was pretty windy on the day we were on the island, so we just snorkelled. The BBQ buffet on the island was very good.

Nassau, Bahamas

Unless you are a true jewlery-a-holic, Nassau has very little to offer. We enjoyed a tour given by a local man. He took us in his taxi to various local sites and explained about the culture, government, school system - anything we wanted to know about.
Don't Miss: "Queen's staircase"

We hired a local tour driver who had a van. Since he was a local he knew everything and took us on a fantastic tour. We paid $25 per person which is much cheaper than booking it through the cruiseline.
Don't Miss: The Atlantis hotel on Paradise Island
