Review summary

This was our fifth cruise. We have cruised on Carnival, Norwegian, and this cruise with Royal Caribbean. The service and food on RCI is a step above the other cruise lines that we have been on. The room needed work--especially the bathroom.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The dining experience was excellent. The waiter (Juan) and his assistant (Candy) were excellent and very attentive. A member of our party asked for more croutons the first night at dinner, and without asking, they brought additional croutons every night for the table. They were very in tune to the needs of everyone. We have had in the past a long wait to get a soda at dinner time, but not on this cruise. The maitre de was in tune to the entire dining room and spent ample time checking in on us and our needs. The food was excellent and prepared with care, and presentation was beautiful. The steaks were always prepared to preference.

Entertainment

We attended one show. It was not the quality that we were used to. The singer might have been tone deaf. The daily activities were plentiful and laid out well to fit our schedule. They encouraged plenty of involvement from the passengers and made the events very entertaining.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
No real complaints. The staff was courteous and had the common goal of pleasing the passengers.

Ship Quality

The layout of the ship was good. Access to all areas was clearly marked and easy to get to. I found that getting an elevator was relatively easy. I have been on other ships where it was tough to get an elevator. This was not the case here.

Cabin / Stateroom

The staterooms were OK, but the bathroom needed work. Apparently we were not the only ones that had this complaint. The bathroom floor seem old and many of the tiles were loose. A couple of tiles were sharp on the feet. Beware! Toilets flushed OK. A lot of people were complaining that the toilets did not flush right. Hello! Read the instructions! The lid needs to be closed for proper use. I was later thanked for handing out the tip. Stateroom attendant did his job, but was not easily found.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

Been there--done that on another cruise. First timers should experience the island. Don't go ashore after 6:00pm. Most of the shops are closed. Watch your kids. We have 14 and 17 year olds. We let our kids wander a little. The locals are very forceful and asked for their wallets and then took some money out and gave them back. We did not confront them on this, I just took it as a valuble lesson.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

Not a must see. I thought the buffett food was a good idea. It was included in the price of the cruise. The beach was nice with plenty of lounge chairs. There was only a 10 minute wait to catch a tender to the island.
Don't Miss: Food--Ribs were good!!

Pros: Dining and activities

Cons: Staterooms
