Review summary

Overall for a cruise to the Bahamas, the Sovereign of the Seas provides a good experience.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Opt for seafood items rather than tougher cuts of beef.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Casey does a great job as Director of the cruise activities. Shows were common to a short run and inexpensive cruise.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our dining room staff was superior to the stateroom staff.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
This ship is 20 years old but up-dated and well maintained. She is being transferred out of USA service next year, and it's probably about time. Public areas are superior to the staterooms.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ports of call

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

3 out of 5
It rained or was cloudy most of our day at Cococay, thus not very enjoyable.

Nassau, Bahamas

1 out of 5
We were not forewarned we would arrive the day after Christmas to a mostly closed down Nassau with debris all over the streets froma huge parade held at 2 AM before we disembarked after 7 AM. Either we shold have arrived to see the parade or have gone to Nassua first and Cococay last. Paradise Beach was difficult to find on our own and was a disappointment compared to Florida beaches.

Pros: Good Service - especially the dining room wait staff and good Cruise Director & Staff

Cons: This is this ship's last year of service in USA, and it's time. The itinerary is boring unless it's your first cruise to Nassau,
