I would not recommend this itinerary or cruise line to discerning, luxury travelers.
I would rate this cruise a 2.0 and definitely not the 3.2 that was assigned by this survey.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
The embarkation was very organized and easy.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
I have had better meals on SilverSeas Cruise line. The main dining room was too large and I expected better quality on an advertised luxury cruise line.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
The pools did not have water in them and maintenance was occurring. I did enjoy the fitness center but the weights started at 25 pounds which is more than I use for my fitness routine. I liked the spa, but the cold room was not cold any of the days that I used the spa.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The orchestra was excellent!! The comedian was good the first night but bad the second night. Phillip Brown was excellent! The stage shows were mostly ....okay.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Jorge the head manager was excellent. He was fun to have a conversation with and accommodating. The room steward I had to continually hunt down to replenish towels, dirty glasses, etc. The Concierge and Tour Director were not helpful and did not care to hear suggestions or offer credits or compensation for the missed port call and the port where the tours were all cancelled in a village of 250 people. Claudia the head Tour Director was to call and discuss with me but never did. Lack of follow up and concern on the part of management is not a company that I do business with.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The Spendor is a beautiful ship!
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We enjoyed the cabin it was very comfortable and clean with tons of storage space! The only thing we did not like was the cabin steward who did not understand English and we had to call several times to get new towels and clean glasses in the room.
Ship tip
I loved ship and would enjoy taking another cruise on it, but I will not. Because management doesn't really care if you did not get what the cruise was to offer and you paid for.
We arrived 3 days in advance to enjoy this port because the cruise line did not offer any pre-cruise hotels and tours. (They may have been full.) I organized my own tours and they were much better than any of the tours on the cruise.
The tour was not worth my time. I had already seen two waterfalls that were much nicer on the Golden Circle tour I organized out of Reykavik and the South Shore tour. The fishing village was interesting and the music provided was good .
We organized our own tours to the Museums and the sculpture park. I enjoyed not being on a bus with sick people. We did go on a walking tour and boat with Regent. I thought the walking tour was okay but the boat was crowded and you had to look through a railing that was too high to see. Also, we could not see the tour guide who was pointing out things but you could not tell where to look.
The acquarium was very good. The island tour was okay. Again on this tour to the island across from Lysekil our tour guide was from 50 miles away and only new the highlights. Regents needs local guides. Many of the guides on this cruise were from miles from the small villages that we visited.
Who cares how large the dining room is? I think as a SilverSea passenger, you were just biased against Regent. I see that a LOT when SSers sail on Regent. But, who knows, I wasn't on the ship with you, so your complaints are probably valid.
