Review summary

We highly recommend Seabourn. We enjoyed everyday and every experience. The staff are always going above and beyond to make certain that everyone is well cared for. Now back at home, I have to manage cooking, cleaning and entertainment for myself!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Everything went exactly as it was supposed to go

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We never were able to get a reservation at Solis earlier than 8:45 PM despite attempting to make reservations prior to sailing as well as on the day of embarkation. We never went to Solis and did not hear any great reviews. The other dining options were great without exception.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Fitness center, card room, pool deck, special events

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainers were absolutely superb!

Children's Programs

We were not traveling with children and didn't see any children on board.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Each and every one of the staff members with whom we had contact were so attentive, upbeat and charming. We cannot think of one incident that was negative.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I would give the ship 4.75 because it is one of the older ships in Seabourn's fleet. The ship has been refitted and everything looks new. Some things could be upgraded such as the room key card which required inserting the card rather than just touching the lock. The windows in the fitness center had framing about 12" wide, right at eye level. I used the fitness center in the early morning and could not view the harbor as the ship entered. Having been on one of Seabourn's newer ships, I know that totally clear windows could be used. Those issues were totally minor and did not affect our enjoyment.

Cabin / Stateroom

Our suite was cleaned several times a day, and our stewards were very attentive. We always had fresh fruit and could request anything we wanted to eat or drink at any time. We know that a lot of passengers order caviar and champagne for a mid afternoon snack. (All food and beverages are included.) The bathroom was large with double sinks, and we had a walk-in closet with a lot of additional storage in the room. Night lighting went on automatically when someone got out of bed making it very comfortable and safe. We had a small refrigerator, as well.

Ship tip

Enjoy!!!!

Ports of call

Dover (London), England Did not visit port

When we arrived in Dover, we went directly to the ship, and when we disembarked we went directly to the airport.

Portland (Weymouth), England, UK

Smaller port with some shops. It was totally charming and a nice walk-around.

Fishguard

Another small, charming village. They have a village center that commemorates the 1797 invasion by the French. Inside is a tapestry made by local women in 1997. Volunteers cheerfully talk with guests and discuss the incredible work of art.

Cobh (Cork), Ireland

4 out of 5
Small village with a few shops and a Titanic museum.

Douglas, Isle Of Man

5 out of 5
Larger harbor with many shops. They have a wonderful museum about their local history.

Belfast, Northern Ireland

Lovely town that is friendly and welcoming. The Giants Causeway, a huge tourist destination, is about a 1 1/2 hour ride from the city through beautiful countryside. Belfast has a large and impressive Titanic museum. It was heartening to see that the city has overcome its unfortunate problems.

ROTHESAY, ISLE OF BUTE, SCOTLAND

Beautiful traditional 'townhouses' go along the shore. They have several lovely coffee shops and a charming museum about the town.

Oban, Scotland

Charming harbor offers a great opportunity to walk and take in traditional seafront.

Ullapool, Scotland

Tiny harbor with several nice shops. They have a wonderful lunch spot with a food truck and outdoor seating called the Seafood Shack. The owners fishes and his wife and daughter cook. We had an incredible lunch there and were able to chat with Scots who were there on a visit.

NEWHAVEN HARBOUR (EDINBURGH), SCOTLAND

5 out of 5
A wonderful city. We boarded a hop on/hop off bus at the harbor which took us into the center of the city. There we got on to another part of the line that had a live guide who gave a very interesting tour. There are many options for visits if one had the time.

Newcastle Upon Tyne, England

4 out of 5
Beautiful small harbor with a castle.

Great Yarmouth

Not worth getting off the ship. There is a large amusement park on the shore and many ticky-tacky shops and tattoo/piercing parlors catering to families. One Seabourn guest said the local museum was quite good.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We are amazed at how well disembarkation went. It was totally seamless. I had a sleepless night worrying that something would go wrong. It was a waste of what could have been a lovely night's rest.
