Got a good value by booking GTY. We knew the itinerary wasn't anything special we went to try out Virgin over 4th of July. Probably won't sail them again as they don't really match our lifestyle. Heavy focus on sea days of drinking and dj music at the pool.
Embarkation

Virgin has their own Terminal in Miami. Arrived at 2:20 in parking garage G. We had a 2:30 port arrival time. We were in our cabin by 2:55. Very effecient. Make sure you have completed online check in and health questionnaire before hand.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

Breakfast and lunch are fine. Hybrid buffet, they bring entree to your table. Get your own drinks and dessert. Dinner is above average. Just make sure you make reservations before you sail. During the cruise reservations were hard to come by. Walk ins were possible.
Onboard Activities

Entertainment was centered around musical entertainment. Shows were in small venues and filled quickly. Around the World in 80 minutes is high light. Just remember this is an adult only cruise

Staff was younger than other cruise lines. Lots of energy and for most part friendly and efficient.

Ship is relatively new, in top condition. Very clean and easy lay out to figure out.
Cabin / Stateroom

Booked GTY balcony. Assigned 8142A. Midship on port side. Fine for 2 adults. Deck 8 was convenient to Deck 6,7 activities. Very clean, minimalist decor.
Ship tip
Adult only cruise. No cruise director. Sea days are similar to spending day at Las Vegas Resort Pool. Music and alcohol, are main activities.
Beach club is fine. If you want an umbrella at the beach be sure to arrive early. Rented a golf cart and did own tour of the island. Went back to ship after a couple of hours. Ship was empty enjoyed the pool with about 10 other guests
Did the Mayan Ruins excursion. 4 hour excursion which is plenty. Weather was sketchy. Costa Maya is built exclusively for Cruise ships, a bit touristy and some aggressive sales people.
At least you gave Virgin a try and now you know it’s not your type of cruise. Hopefully your next cruise will be more to your liking. Thank you for sharing your experience.
