Review summary
Ryndam is an old ship. Small ship with very little technology. Only two wall plugs in the room. The room was adequate, service was ok. The staff on the ship were not overly friendly in fact at times seemed indifferent. Food was ok. Buffet was always crowded so we opted for eating in the main dining room. There was an Italian restaurant but it was sort of a make shift room in the buffet area so no ambience for a meal you had to pay for. Entertainment was great. That really was the highlight. The shops on board were not good. Nothing of quality and overpriced. The ports we went to were fine. Nothing to buy in Honduras or Guatemala but Key West and Costa Maya had shopping. Would probably not take another Holland cruise. I took one several years ago and it was just ok. I thought maybe it would improve but that was not the case. Holland America needs to update this ship or retire it. The amenities were few and far between.

Ship tip
Big a power strip with you if you want to charge your phone or laptop. Rooms only had two plugs. Bring a thermos for coffee or water. That way you can have coffee in the room in the morning. Also there are no refrigerators in the room. You have to rent one for 2 dollars a day.
