Movies Under The Stars on Ruby Princess

The Big Screen has a good selection of movies, video concerts, and live sports over the length of the cruise. I’m very impressed by the fact that there are some “balcony” decks specifically meant for movie watching! The volume can be a bit loud, but none of it is hearable from the adjoining Neptune Pool area — a great example of acoustic isolation! The movies are good quality across the genres, and the marquee movies are typically shown twice in the day, so all can catch them. (They’re all repeated on the cabin TVs if you still miss them.) Live events, though, are highly dependent on the satellite reception of your ship. the US football games they showed had video hiccups and delays about every 10 seconds, making for a very stuttered game that missed a lot of crucial plays. Hopefully the reception and video quality on your trip will be better.

The screen was under construction and they had a terrible replacement. The deck looked like a total mess and the staff were not helpful or clear about how it worked for newcomers

We watched "Bohemian Rhapsody" there, and had a ball. The staff brought us both pizza and popcorn. A chilly night, but was great watching a film while snuggling under the warm blankets the staff provided

The chairs were very comfy, blankets were provided, popcorn was available and they even brought around pizza, but in our case it was a March cruise and it was too cold to enjoy. We watched one movie and were still cold with 3-4 blankets, so we didn't watch more than one movie. If the weather had been nicer we definitely would have done this more, since the set up was really nice.

Nothing like watching movies outdoors!

We enjoyed some of the movies presented in this very relaxing and entertaining atmosphere. With the blankets and popcorn at our disposal, it was a great treat!

When my husband and I went on our Alaskan cruise we went out an watched a movie. It was very chilly, but they gave you blankets if you needed them. Even though we were frozen by the end, so glad we did it. The Stars were so bright, made it a little romantic.

Great facility to have on board. Really enjoyed watching a couple of movies from 10pm. Staff came round with popcorn and hot drinks too. Quality of screen was very good considering we were at sea.
