The Royal Princess was a very nice clean ship. The staff could have been friendlier. They seemed a bit up tight. This was not a super fun ship compared to some of the ships I have been on. I found the Spa staff to be overly pushy. The prices in the spa were higher than on other cruise line ships.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Went very smooth and faster than most I have experienced.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Fewer menu selections than other cruise lines in main dining room for all meals. Had dinner in Crown Grille it was very good. I just did not understand how they could serve soft dinner rolls and in the dining rooms all they had were very hard rolls. Was not happy with having to call every morning to get a reservation for your time dining. Other cruise lines allowed me to make reservations the night before or even in advance for the whole cruise. Just a pain when you had to leave early for an excursion.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Walking, line dancing and meeting other Veterans were fine.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Ship performers and comedian were very good.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Waiters and other personnel on Princess were not as friendly as other cruise lines. Room steward was very good.
Ship Quality

Very clean ship. Ship’s layout was fine.
Cabin / Stateroom

Big enough for 2 people, very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was smaller than other ships I have been on.
Booked an excursion through Ship Mate. Had to walk 25 minutes or take taxi to excursion office. Once we finally got there we boarded the bus. They realized they had over booked and told my sister and I to get off and take the later excursion. We did not know where we were and had no idea where to go. We should never have been told to get off the bus. It was not our fault they over booked the excursion. I had called like the instructions stated to get the time for our excursion. I will not book through Ship Mate again. I prefer to be picked up at the pier like most cruise line excursions are handled.
Booked another Ship Mate excursion on the “Duck”. Not impressed with the tour guide at all. Did not get to really see much of Seattle. Again we had to walk or take a taxi to excursion office. Was able to get a taxi to office for $20.
By time we got to Vancouver I realized I had made a big mistake booking another excursion with Ship Mate. They were unorganized and kept everyone waiting. Again not impressed with what we were able to see in Vancouver. Expected a bit more for the money.
