A great cruise! by portofrome

Ship: Royal Clipper

his is my first cruise on a tall ship (and my first review in english!) after so many on the "regolar one"! My choise went for the Royal Clipper 4 night mediterranean cruise. The port of call were: 1-Departure from Civitavecchia 2-Portoferraio isola d'elba italy; 3-Palombaggia Corsica island and Bonifacio France; 4- Porto Ercole Italy 5- Civitavecchia When I got my ticket I read that the embark starts at 4 pm at terminal 10 in Civitavecchia, so I went to the terminal around 3.45 pm. There were already many passengers waiting and after few minutes the cruise director Goban arrived and introduced himself and explained in english, german and french how the embarkation will work. First we have to fill the data infos and then keeping our cabin number card to embark. It took almost 10 minutes and I was on the gangway. As on bord I was welcomed by the Captain and the hotel director. After the welcome drink we were headed to the inside tropical bar for the credit card registration and passport control ( they kept it till the last day). After that I was escorted to my cabin. I was in a category 2 cabin: midship, well located, quite and very confortable. I really loved it and wont hesitate to book again! After drop my hand bag off I went out to see the ship. She is very beautiful and elegant! She is small: one restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The tropical bar: half inside and half outside (all activities will take place here from the boat drill to the shows and games), the elegant library, tge conference room and the underwater gym and spa. I spent the time taking photos and drinking at the tropical bar til the boat drill. After that I went to my cabin to take a shower and dressing for dinner. Around 8.30pm I went to the main restaurant and the Maitre'd excorted me, after asking me about my language and preferences to a fantastic table (for the location and table mates). The food was very good and so it was for every night!! At 10pm we were all outside on decks for the sailing away with champagne glass and the Vangelis music....WOW!! The day after we arrived in Portoferraio. I've veen there so many time so I stayed on board all day enjoying the sun and the amazing ship. Today I had the chance to climb the mast and I lived it. I had a wonderful fish buffet for lunch at the main restaurant: on the royal clipper the breakfast and lunch are buffet style and dinner is a la carte. From 5pm to 6pm there are some afternoon snacks at the tropical bar. The day after we were in the morning at the beach and in the afternoon/evening in the village of bonifacio. I spent the morning on the beach and the evening in bonifacio fir a stroll and some drinks. In Porto Ercole it was a long day anchored outside the port and I enjoyed the marina deck. I also had the chance to visit the engeneer room because the night before I shared the table with the chef engenner and he invited all the table mates to visit him while on duty. In the evening went ashore for meeting some friends liveng there. When I was back it was the time to pack for desembark tge day after. The last night was amazing. I had a nice dinner with my fellow cruise mates and a wonderful time at the tropical bar for the last drinks. The next morning after my breakfast, picked up my passport, greeting my new friends I desembark from a very short cruise. I really would spend more days on board: for the ship, the food, the drinks, the passengers, the crew, the service. I really loved to feel the sea to close to me, the small size of the ship (in few hours you will meet all the passengers and crew), the open bridge and watching the officers and crew at work, the very well travelled passengers, the quality of food..... Yes, I will back on board again!
