Visiting WWI & WWII sites were very moving. The 15 Days on such a great ship was thoroughly enjoyable. Can’t wait until I’m back on HAL again.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We booked Club Orange and had priority boarding so we were on in minutes.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food is always excellent on HAL and the Club Orange dining room is well worth the upgrade cost.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The activities are aimed at the older crowd as is the cruise line. The cultural presentations and activities were a highlight for me. A word of caution for all, there are no high energy activities or resort style facilities like RC and NCL do your research to avoid disappointment.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The music volume needs to be lowered a bit but it’s a minor issue. The quality of the rock band in the Rolling Stone Rock Room was not as good as it has been on my last 4 Pinnacle class ship cruises.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
This area is one of the best aspects of cruising on HAL. All crew members go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The amount of cleaning on this ship is borderline pathological 👍. I saw a crew member using a flashlight to shine on a glass surface at an angle to spot and errant smudges.
This port was a surprise to me. I was expecting just some English countryside sites but I went to Corfe castle and was very impressed with the tour and our guide.
Thanks for the detailed review. Well worth the time to see where history occurred and so many lost their lives. Glad you were able to enjoy such a wonderful cruise. We are going on HAL in a couple weeks to the Panama Canal. Curious, did you arrange your own airfare or use HAL to book it?
There was no Lincoln Centre on board this time. That question came up when we had an ask the Captain secession and they said that a new classical music program is being developed right now but is not ready for roll out yet.
Thank you for the review. Did you take an excursion to see Normandy and the WWI site in Belgium? Or did you go on your own? We are going on this Transatlantic cruise next year. This will be our first HAL cruise.
