Review summary

Really loved it and would have stayed longer if we could have.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very efficient and quick, despite having some system issues. We were onboard a bit sooner than the predicted hour and our cabin was ready.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Second cruise on a HAL ship and we were very pleased. For us, food is one of the top criteria to pick a cruise and HAL did not disappoint. Food from the Club Orange was great, which is where we ate most days. We had one Pinnacle Grill and one Tamarind dinner and we also enjoyed them very much

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
If you are looking for a lot of activities you will be disappointed. There are a few trivias, bingos, the casino and shopping, but this is it. We don't mind as we like to relax and read. The Rotterdam has a great library.

The Library

5 out of 5

Very well stocked. Many titles to chose from. The best library I have seen after the QMII

Club Orange

5 out of 5

Very cozy and a more personal approach. Staff were great and made us feel at home.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Great if you love music. From piano duels, Rock bands and Blues bands. Every night they have different shows. We were slightly disappointed that the Lincoln Center Stage (string quartet) was not on this ship, but plenty of other choices.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Very attentive and dedicated. Nothing negative.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We were on the Nieuw Amsterdam in December and it is very similar, so it was easy to reorient ourselves. Personally we preferred the Rotterdam over the Nieuw Amsterdam, in terms of the Music walk and the Club Orange.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a Neptune suite and it was spacious and well configured

Ship tip

Great view from the Exploration central and Cafe

Ports of call

South Queensferry (Edinburgh), Scotland

5 out of 5
Walked around old Edinburgh, beautiful city with lots of history

Amsterdam, Netherlands

5 out of 5
Spent three days there befoyour cruise, so did not leave the ship on this stop. Plenty to do and enjoy in Amsterdam

Invergordon (Inverness & Loch Ness), Scotland

4 out of 5
Not much to do in Invergordon itself, so you need to book a tour. But it is still a cute village.

Copenhagen, Denmark

5 out of 5
Did a tour "Castles of Zealand". It was a good tour, very informative and included one UNESCO world heritage site

Rotterdam, Netherlands

5 out of 5
Spent one day before leaving. Plenty to see and do

Oslo, Norway

5 out of 5
Decided to explore on our own as the ship was docked right at the fortress. Downloaded an app that made us explore the town.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very quick and efficient
