Review summary
Bad ship, bad ports of call, bad check in and bad disembarkation. As a HAL 3 star mariner, this was an embarrassment and will likely push others not to 1) cruise again 2) never to sail HAL. Bad crew decisions make a bad cruise for all.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Poor staff at check in- the contracted crew didn't take photos for the room cards or ask for credit card for room charge. We had to wait for guest services on the ship to correct the port issues.

Old ship. When can we make this an artificial reef? HAL should be embarrassed to have this ship and itinerary as part of their fleet/voyages. What a horrible experience.

What an old ship. HAL please rework the aging Rotterdam. This ship should have been retired 10 years ago. What an embarrassment to the company and myself for paying for such an old ship 1997 is not OK!
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
Rust all over the deck/balcony area. Carpet stained. Tub worn out and in very bad shape. The MS Rotterdam needs a refurb- its not fair to send this ship out to paying travellers. Take this ship out of commission.
Ship tip
Dont ever take a cruse on the Rotterdam 6, this is an old ship. Rust all over, toilets malfunction in staterooms. This ship is an old boat ready to be made into a reef.
Rough seas prevented to Costa Maya port of call. Understood safety was of concern, however the Captain did not try to get into Cozumel or even a return to Key West. Very bad decision not to try to find an alternate port.
Never made it. Weather was too rough so had to bypass. Captain didn't look for alternate port so another lousy day at sea. Cozumel and Key West again were open, but no attempt was made to stop in the ports. What a disappointment.
