Resilient Lady

15 Night Singapore Bali & The Gold Coast (Singapore To Sydney)

Sail date: November 20, 2023

Ship: Resilient Lady

Traveled as: Couple

Reviewed: 10 months ago

Review summary

Third leg of the Maiden repositioning voyage from the Mediterranean to Australia. This Resilient Lady ship is silent and stable. No sound, no movement, she just glides through the water. The whole journey was a mill pond - absolutely no seasickness onboard. A beautiful voyage - highly recommend. You will be 20 years younger when you get off, cause the hip and happening vibe is infectious 😊

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This was our third leg of a repositioning voyage. Singapore much improved their embarkation process, compared to the disembarkation. If you are sailing back to back legs, try and book the same room to avoid packing up and moving.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
No main dining room and no buffet on this ship - only The Galley which is similar to a food court. Make sure you make reservations at the speciality restaurants (they are free) when available on the App (around 45 days prior to sail date). The menu is becoming repetitive now we are on the 3rd leg.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Lots to do onboard, games, Bingo (run by the resident Drag Queen Diva) Trivia, Book Club, pools, hot tub, fitness classes. Gym, guest musicians and other artists, DJ’s, the list goes on.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Sailaway fun, Scarlet Night on repeat every leg. Shows by the core entertainment team did not change (I saw the same production 3 times). They are very good, but it’s wearing a bit thin now. The guest artists on this final leg were not as good as the previous 2 voyages, and despite giving several performances, they all repeated their material so their shows were exactly the same (comedian, juggler and magician). There was also no major guest performers, like on the previous legs.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room stewards were excellent. Nothing was ever any trouble. All the staff are happy and friendly.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Resilient Lady is new and clean. I would have preferred better layout for music entertainment, but really, it was all good.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved my starboard aft sea terrace. Everything comfortable and functional. Comfy beds, great shower, good size room and THAT HAMMOCK was a great addition to the balcony. Interestingly the rooms are not totally parallel! Probably because the room layout alternates with either bedding beside the balcony, or closer to the bathroom. I don’t think you can choose, it’s how each room is designed.

Ship tip

No kids onboard, no Cruise Director, no photographer taking snaps and trying to sell them to you as a memento of your voyage. There is however, a resident Drag Queen “Diva” who is entertaining.

Ports of call

Yorkey's Knob (Cairns), Australia

5 out of 5
Not at Yorkeys Knob, but docked at the cruise terminal in the heart of Cairns. Cairns is a big tourist area with lots of attractions, the main one being a visit to The Great Barrier Reef. If you’ve never ventured, go! It’s truly a wonder of the natural world.

Singapore

4 out of 5
Very hot and humid. Lots to do here in Singapore, but time was limited at this port, as it was both a disembarkation and re-embarkation process on the one day. As the Cruise terminal was close to Marina Bay Sands, it was an easy walk to the train station (clean and cheap) and a short journey to visit the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and ride the lift to the Sky Deck. Another option was to pre-book a day tour of the city.

Sydney, Australia

5 out of 5
Best harbour in the world! A wonderful sail in, on a beautiful summers day, passing the Sydney Opera House, multiple sailing yachts in the harbour and the Sydney Harbour Bridge in full view. Docked at the International Passenger Terminal close to public transport for exploring this great city. Perfect end to a fabulous voyage.

Darwin, Australia

5 out of 5
Darwin is the capital of the Northern Territory and a major Australian port in the tropics. Lots to see and do, but unfortunately we were only docked here for a short time. If you have never visited, I’d recommend to book a tour and guide.

Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia

5 out of 5
Pretty Airlie Beach - required tendering to the port here. Booked a scenic flight over the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef with Viator. Outstanding! Spent the rest of the day wandering the one Main Street. Don’t miss exploring this seaside gem if it’s on your itinerary.

Benoa, Bali, Indonesia

4 out of 5
Pre-booked a full day tour to Ubud with Viator. Informative guide and visited a lot of sights. Highly recommend “The Best of Ubud Tour” which was approximately 9 hours.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Sydney proved to have disembarkation down pat. Even with Richard Branson onboard, there were no issues with disembarking. Smooth, quick and easy with no waiting.
