Review summary
We have cruised with Princess nine times with 5 of them on the Regal. Unfortunately our experience has been getting progressively worse and this will probably be our last. Overall, the food was excellent and improved our the last couple of cruises. The MDR was comparable to other lines but the buffet was great. They did a nice job with the quality and selection. Also, the pizza was top notch. This ship has a central atrium where most of the indoor bars and restaurants are located. The problem with this is that no matter where you sit, you hear whatever live music is playing in the area For us, this was not so good. Also, on this ship, the aft pool was an afterthought and is located next to the smoking area so that could be a problem for some. During the day, they played movies at the main pool which was annoying. Music would have been more appropriate. This cruise appeared to attract an older, less refined party crowd. Lines at the bars were consistently anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. Pool chairs were reserved early. I went to the retreat area at 9:15 am and all the chairs were taken but very few people were there. People even reserved the patio furniture all day. The good news was the gym was basically empty. The casino was smoked filled most of the time as they allow smoking in a certain area while actively playing the slots. This area is right next to the table games. I get it, different lines attract different types. If this is what you like, that's great. People appeared to be having fun and that's what it is all about. Fortunately for us, we have options more suited to our tastes..Embarkation
