Regal Princess

7 Night Eastern Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip)

Sail date: January 19, 2020

Ship: Regal Princess

Cabin type: Balcony

Cabin number: B131

Traveled as: Family (older children)

Review summary

This was an experiment. Would we like Princess more than our usual line. They both had good and bad points. We would take this again. It was especially nice for my 70 year old mother who the entertainment was geared for. I would really like to go on one of their special science cruises.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
one of the smoothest!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was excellent. Even though , they did not let us sign up as vegan, my vegan daughter was able to get vegan meals at each siting.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The spa and fitness center were great. The shows were great. I'm just not quite old enough for all of the other entertainment.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
This ship was targeting a bit of an older audience. I had a good time, but not as good of a time as my mother!

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
We were there on a week when there were not many kids so my kids got to chose a lot of the activities.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
They were excellent!!!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I really enjoyed the Piazza. This ship was otherwise not much different than all of the others I have been on.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
I liked the layout of this. It had a roomy closet.

Ship tip

bring a book. This is a cruise for relaxing.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
I do not think of this as a port of call. This is where we started and ended.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
This was great!!!! Great biking tour. However, I think it is misleading to call this a private island. They own "part of an island".

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
We had excellent diving and excellent food here. I am glad we did not have to drive on those roads.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

3 out of 5
Another rainy day in St. Maarten. I do not know why cruise ships always go here. I consider this a shopping port.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
a very, very smooth transition.

Glad to see that you enjoyed your cruise experience. Kim and I find the Regal to be our favorite Princess ship. We will be taking a T/A cruise on the Sky Princess and we hope that it equals our Regal experiences. Your review was informative. Thanks for sharing.

Can you share what entertainment was offered and which of those you felt were targeted to 70 year olds? I remember them having cooking classes/demonstrations, game shows, lectures on ports, zumba dancing, movies, comedians (clean), concerts, typical dance/singing shows, etc. Yes there were seniors at all of those but the younger crowd seemed to have fun also.

Glad that you were able to enjoy some of your cruise and tolerate other parts because your mom had such a good time !
