Review summary

Overall, we always enjoy our Princess cruises. We can relax and do as we please which is what a vacation is for in our view.

Embarkation

Medallion made this very simple and quick.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Did not use MDR due to dress requirements. Husband refuses to wear long pants on a Caribbean vacation, and I’m fine with that. Lots of other options that are easy to do. Horizon buffet always plentiful and daily variety. Do love the theme lunches and dinners, especially the German night. Husband loves shrimp and I think it was offered almost every meal. I do believe that Princess has reduced number of servers, however. Sometimes it was a challenge to get coffee, juice, etc. Otherwise, very satisfied with dining options.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Did not really participate so cannot rate, but they do seem to offer quite a variety of activities.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Again, did not participate. The Patter lists many types of shows, but we did not attend. We are mainly interested in relaxation on deck or balcony, reading or listening to music.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Always appreciate the crew’s great attitudes.

Ship tip

If you are not an excursion person, you can enjoy a less crowded ship if you stay onboard during port visit.

Ports of call

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

Have gone ashore here several times before, so did not go this time. However, we were not a fan of the lunch buffet served there. We always eat before or after now.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Again, beautiful. Did want to shop but would have had to pay for a water taxi to get to the nice shopping area. Decided not to do so and just walked around shops by port. Do feel that Princess should offer some kind of organized water transfer to the main shopping area. Not a question of cost for us, but of organization and safety.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Beautiful place but did not go ashore.

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Stayed night before cruise in hotel, Embassy Suites. No issues.

Disembarkation

Organized as usual, but the first time I ever felt hustled off the ship. We had a 3pm flight and a Princess transfer to airport but were shuffled off the ship at 8am. Understand the need to vacate the cabin for cleaning, but I do feel that Princess could appoint one lounge for such passengers to remain onboard for a while longer. The airport experience was not a good one; any less time at FLL would have been much appreciated. Will include this info in my Princess survey.
