Regal Princess is a beautiful ship and will not disappoint the avid cruiser. She is one of the larger ships in the Princess fleet so be prepared to get in some steps on your fitbit! With 3500 passengers, we never had issues waiting for anything from service in the buffet to elevators, except during peak times for embarking/disembarking in ports. The casino is predominantly "non-smoking" now with a smaller section for smokers which made it much nicer for those of us who don't smoke or want to smell from the smoky environment. Overall it was a great, very relaxing cruise and the Medallion experience was great - being able to locate your travel party on an ap was easy, as was ordering a drink even if you weren't in the main stream areas on deck.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
The medallion which we recieved at home ahead of time made embarkation a breeze. 15 minutes from curb to the buffet!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We chose seated dining in the main dining room and found the food prepared to our liking. We are not "foodies" and found the menu had enough variety for us to be able to make our choices and try new things.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We love the trivia and game show "games" and the Princess Live theater is the perfect setting!
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The production shows were wonderful - very talented singers and the first comedian was excellent - the comedian/piano player on the last evening was interesting but not great in our opinion. A little to crazy for us!
Children's Programs
no children traveling with us
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Every staff member we interacted with and even those we saw in passing were always smiling and offered greetings.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The Regal is beautiful and easy to navigate once you get your bearings and can remember forward and aft!
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
This cabin is a good size for two people - beds are pushed together to form one large queen size bed. Plenty of storage space with drawers on each side of the bed, in the desk and in the closet area. The cabin seemed to get a little "stuffy" overnite even though the thermostat was never changed but that may be a ship wide system issue, not related to the cabin thermostat control.
We had a clam-shell reserved and got there early to get in the front row, although it was not crowded on the right side of the beach area. We snorkeled and just relaxed in the water. The lunch buffet was good, but we saw individual food stalls afterwards that we would have used rather than the buffet. They were not advertised well but were included.
We have been to St Thomas many times, so didn't take time to shop. We took a shared cab on our own to Coki Beach for snorkeling. It was very crowded with 3 ships in port, but we were able to get chairs and an umbrella. Snorkeling was best to the right of the beach along the rocky jetty.
Another port we have visited many time but this time we chose to do an excursion thru Princess and did the Chair lift and Flying Dutchman! This is a former estate with a few buildings and very small museum, but the attraction is the chairlift that takes you up the mountain and then you ZIP line down (about 45 seconds!) Amazing views from the top and there is a bar/restaurant at the bottom where you can just relax and enjoy the views while you wait for transportation back to the ship.
We waited in the Platinum/Elite lounge and were escorted off the ship about 8:30 - all colors went at the same time. Our luggage was easy to find, and customs was quick.
Thank you so much for your review. We are looking forward to the Regal Princess on January 5th. Helen was on her 1st ever cruise Sept 16th, out of Port Canaveral on the Mariner of the Seas. It was a good experience for her but I didn't think it came close to the food, entertainment, and Medallion of my Caribbean Princess Cruise this past June 01. Between me and Regal Princess, I plan on keeping her very busy and will spoil her rotten. I did the Catamaran snorkeling excursion to Turtle Cove in St Thomas and the Big Three Ziplines excursion in St Maarten back in June. I plan on the same two excursions this time with her. I will use my gopro black 7 for recording the snorkeling and ziplines. She and I will love it. Booked both through Princess.
