Review summary

Amazing chef. We are experienced cruisers and not easily impressed but this was close to 5 star dining in the main dining rooms.

Ship is lovely except for the odd layout. There is no main staircase midship except between decks 5 and 7 in the 3 story open Piazza. . So if you prefer  a midship cabin  ( we do ) you are obliged to spend too much time waiting for the elevator, just to go up or down a deck or two...or walk the length of the ship to the forward and aft staircases dodging around service carts etc in the halls to access a staircase.

Staff was well trained, attentive and personable throughout the ship.

Shows were top notch.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Superb menu choices. Well prepared and beautifully presented. Allegro Dining room waiter, Sabina, and assistant waiter, Nathaniel were a terrific team. Charming and professional.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Amazing Broadway quality production shows included a bit of ballet and opera, impressive sets, and even some well controlled pyrotechnics. Comedian had us laughing for a solid hour.....seriously my sides ached. Get to the theater 30 min early if you want to sit together. Shows are worth the wait.

Children's Programs

Did not use. Travelling with couples.

Service and Staff

Cabin / Stateroom

Put the nice photo/art on the wall opposite the door so it is seen upon entering the room. Would enlarge the space and give an immediate focal point.

Ship tip

Buffet dining gets very busy at the more traditional meal hours ie: 8 AM and 12 Noon. You will probably need to share a table then. We are OK with that but if you don't, plan to dine earlier or later or go to one of the Dining rooms that are open for breakfast or lunch service.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

3 out of 5

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

3 out of 5
The cruise port, Amber Cove, is lovely. New and spotless ...a Disney sort of "town". We took a "panoramic" side trip into Puerto Plata - a staggering contrast. Educational (!) but would not do it again as a vacation option.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Excursion to St John via ferry and open air taxi was very enjoyable. Tour guide, Brian, on the ferry could be a stand up comedian. Gave us lots of history and information on the islands and was most entertaining in the process. St John is a beautiful island that is 2/3 National Park.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
Side trip to sugar plantation and Fort was fun. Govt is spending money to attract tourists. Nice new small tour buses with very professional tour guides. Agatha was excellent.

I saw a interview with the ships captain on cruise critic and during the interview he addressed that issue a claimed that there is a midship staircase. I'm going on march 12, 2017 so I will definitely investigate

That's was how we felt when we were on the ship in 2015. Bad design but we cruise on Princess mostly.

didn't care for the lack of the stairway in the middle of the ship.
