When it comes to the buffet area on the Regal Princess (a.k.a. the Horizon Court), I have mixed feelings. Don't get me wrong, it was my main go-to spot for breakfast and lunch because it's quick and easy to grab a bite while surveying all the food options available. However, after experiencing the buffets on Virgin Voyages and HAL, I must admit I've been a bit spoiled. Compared to those, the Regal Princess buffet wasn't anything to write home about. Sure, there were some decent food options, but it paled in comparison to the variety and quality of the other buffets I've encountered. For breakfast, they had all the usual staples like cereal, eggs, bacon, and pastries, but there was nothing that made me go "wow, I need to go back for seconds!" One thing I did appreciate was the design of the area, as the food stations were located in the inside areas, rather than alongside the aisles. However, it was a bit frustrating that there weren't dedicated stations for specific types of food, like Mexican or pasta. Instead, everything was all mixed together, which made it harder to narrow down my choices. Plus, the omelet station didn't make omelets while you wait. Instead, they gave me a ticket to give to my waiter, who after 10 minutes is supposed to bring the meal. Good luck finding a waiter during the morning rush hour! Most of them were busy dealing with larger parties, so I often had to fend for myself. The lunch selection was hit or miss, but on the last day of the cruise, they had sushi, seafood, and a variety of cakes, which was a nice surprise. Overall, if I had to compare the Horizon Court buffet to the other buffets I've experienced, it wouldn't come out on top. However, there were still some solid choices, and you definitely won't go hungry. So, I would give it a rating of 3.5 stars.
