Overall amazing cruise. From the... by shannondz

Sail date: /
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

Overall amazing cruise. From the customer service, to the dining, to the port stops and shore excursions. We had an interior stateroom and were impressed with the size and features of the room (8005). Our stateroom attendant was fantastic and after visiting the Starquest lounge on the 13th deck one night, the bartender knew our names and drinks for the following nights. This lounge was a hidden gem and we spent a lot of time here sightseeing and hanging out. The entertainment was great from comedians, to the 70’s night, to the live jazz band. Throughly enjoyed stopping by Latte-tudes for a daily iced mocha. The variety of food was awesome, including the Windjammer buffet, the Park Cafe and the ‘my time’ dining menu in the Cascades dining room. All of the employees were so friendly and went out of their way to make sure everything was up to par. Couldn’t ask for a greater experience.

1st cruise in 15 years & this time with an 11 year old by zsrshipmates

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Embarkation and disembarkation were chaos and not relaxing, but enjoyed the rest. Would definitely cruise again with RCL.

We LOVED Alaska! We didn’t love cruising-it ended up being a means to get from port to port.

Great destinations/ Royal Carribean/I am not impressed at all. by michaelbasham1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

I was disappointed in Royal Carribean. The wait staff in the dining hall were earnest in service and great! The room staff was great. They made the trip. Phil the comedian was great as entertainment and Trivia in the bar was great. The food quality, not the wait staff in dining was mediocre. The buffet was a 2 out of 10 on a rating. The staff in the bars and on the floor looked tired, depressed and most did not seem enthused to have guests onboard. The buffet has limited hours??? I would choose Carnival over Royal Carribean every time now. I am disappointed in our cruise ship and what RC provided. Once we got off the ship the ports were awesome.

Had a great experience on... by ConstanceLee

Sail date: /
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

Had a great experience on Radiance of the Seas. First cruise so can’t compare but overall was pleased. Less marketing would be better, so much emphasis on drink packages and jewelry purchases. Food in the dining room was very good and our waiter was phenomenal! Ate breakfast and/or lunch in the Windjammer... ok food. Ice cream was crystalline so skipped that after first try. Heard a lot of complaints about the lack of organization, we just thought it was normal since we had nothing to compare. But organization was not a strong point for Royal Caribbean. But overall I would rate 4 stars.

Definitely an older crowd on... by Ftorchia

Sail date: /
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

Definitely an older crowd on the Radiance which we expected and frankly didn’t mind. We sailed from Vancouver-Anchorage June 1st-June 8th. Alaska was beautiful and we loved the different ports and excursions. Our stateroom attendant was phenomenal and the kids club was equally impressive. Our children LOVED the staff and activities. The comedians were very funny as well. The bartenders with the exception of one had zero personality. Our group of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids) ALL thought the dining room food was pretty horrible compared to 7 others cruises we have taken. The pizza compared to Carnival’s cruise line was god awful. The pastry chef or whoever makes the desserts for the Windjammer needs to go back to Culinary school. Every meal the desserts were left as if no one had touched them. Case in point! My wife liked the carrot cake on the 2nd night of dining but that was about it. I can’t express how disappointed we were with the food on this ship hence the 3 star review. Alaska gets 5 stars though, it is as advertised!

Good trip with family. by vvieux

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Any trip making memories with family is great. We booked a tour in Seward when we disembarked and took Alaska Railway to Anchorage that evening. We spent two days in Anchorage. The biggest downside of the trip was American Airlines who totally messed up our reservations.

We loved the Radiance for... by cruisingjodis

Sail date: /
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

We loved the Radiance for Alaska. We thought the food was fine, service fine, entertainment great, ship beautiful for an older ship and of course , the destination awesome. We had an inside cabin 4035 which was convenient for us and enabled us to spend more money on excursions. It is up to individuals to do research as far as what they’re looking for, but we loved Alaska in May. No salmon run but the ice in the Fjords and snow covered mountains were a sight to behold, and it stays light a long time. There are always trade offs but all in all a wonderful time is available for you if you’re ready to embrace Alaska.

Bucket List Must Do by barawed

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

If you have the ability to splurge on a cruise it should be a Transpacific on a small ship. The ports and all their sights and sounds are unforgettable. We cannot wait to do the same cruise all over again.

Trip was fine we had a horrible experience one 1 excursion in bora bora by suedavis4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Transpacific

It was a little rough in the beginning. A little confusing also because this was our first cruise. No one told us how they worked we had to figure it out for ourselves. And we never figured it out until the cruise was almost over.
