Review summary
This was a very relaxing cruise. We experienced some rough seas after we left Lisbon but nothing too bad. The rest of the trip was fairly smooth sailing with great weather. We had a great time and would do this cruise again.

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food was outstanding. in all of the restaurants that we ate at. Main dining room, Lido and the Pinnacle.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Overall we thought the activities were quite good. We took advantage of the free Microsoft classes, the seminars on outer space and the America's Test Kitchen shows and the steam and sauna in the spa.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The shows on this ship were simply outstanding. The Rave Ons which are a Buddy Holly Tribute band were fantastic. We could have gone to see them every night. They put on two totally different shows. Awesome!! The singers and Dancers on this trip were the best we have ever seen. The Dancers were from Russia and were completely amazing, so talented. And all of the singers in the group were great, especially Lisa, she had such an amazing singing voice that she could have been a solo act. So much talent, she gave us goose bumps when she sang. The comedian and magician were good too.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The whole ships crew gave outstanding service. Something that Holland America is known for.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We just love the Prinsendam. It is so elegant. It is a shame that it has been sold and will be leaving the fleet next July. Hopefully they will replace it with another small elegant ship.
Cabin / Stateroom

The size of the cabin was quite large and we really loved the walk in closet.
We stayed at the Corinthian Hotel pre cruise and it was a great hotel. They picked us up from the airport and took us to the cruise terminal the next morning. Upon arrival at the Hotel we were met by a gentleman in long tails and top hat. Our bags were deliver right to our room. The check in was very smooth and the room was outstanding. The hotel had two restaurants and both of them were great. They hotel featured a breakfast buffet that was unbelievable. All types of fresh fruit, sliced meats including prosciutto that was being fresh sliced, fresh made to order omelets, pancakes, waffles, cereals, danishes, even free champagne. I can't even list everything that they had. Amazing.
We did an excursion that took us to a green house facility that grows pineapples that was very interesting and then we went to see the two different volcanic lakes, one green and one blue. The bus ride there was great and we saw the many pastures of dairy cows that were milked right in the pastures. Something that we had never seen before. Very educational and enjoyable excursion. The port was very clean as well.
We choose not to do an excursion at this prot we walked around town on our own instead. The town was very clean and when we were there the children were out in groups trick or treating, going from store to store it was so fun to watch them and how the shop keepers responded to them.
