Holland America Cruise

Sail Date: July 09, 2010

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Room Type: Oceanview

The ship was nice, but old. Some of the details were not up to the level of other cruise liners I have been on. For example, the shower had a cheap soap dish that was not stable. Also, the ship was small and there was not much choice in entertainment, although the entertainment was very good. In addition, there were not many restaurant/meal options like on larger ships.

Pros: Ports of call were excellent. Crew was wonderful!

Cons: It was difficult to work with Holland America Line for special requests because I booked through Cheaptickets.

Recommends Prinsendam? Yes!

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
As mentioned above, there weren't many options for meals; however, the food was very well prepared and tasty.
Service and Staff
Our stateroom attendant was wonderful! He was available 24/7 and always asked about my mother and me. The dining room steward was very personable and knew everyone's name by the second night. He provided anything we asked for.
Cabin / Stateroom
The problem with the room was that the window looked out on the lower promenade deck, which meant we could not leave the curtains open because people were constantly passing by the window.
As mentioned above, there was not much choice in entertainment, but what there was was good. The timing wasn't very good for the late dinner seating.
Bordeaux, France
Vlissingen (Flushing), Netherlands
Le Havre (Paris), France
Must take a tour here to Paris!
Don't Miss: Paris
Tilbury (London), England
Need to take a transfer to London for the day. Once there, you can get a double decker bus city tour.
Lorient, France
Best to take a tour here to Vannes.
Bilbao, Spain

Don't Miss: Guggenheim Museum
La Coruna, Spain
Torre de Hercules was beautiful, but a long climb up steep stairs. The tram was easy to navigate and a nice ride.
St. Peter Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands
This was a charming town and it's nice to just walk around.
Don't Miss: Victor Hugo's house
Zeebrugge (Bruges), Belgium
Not worth going to Brussels, but a tour to Brugges is good.
