We wanted to visit multiple islands of Hawaii and booked this cruise with friends. We loved the islands we visited and most excursions. Just do not judge the cruising industry and experience off of this cruise (if you book). It's just a nice floating hotel that delivers you to different islands. It's a smaller ship too so you will feel a lot of the seas and some other passengers were sick.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Smooth getting on board.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
We did specialty restaurant one night, but only did main dining twice which was disappointing (very unusual for us cruising). Food took way too long in main dining and was served cold. We just kept with the buffet at dinner which was your usual cruising food and options.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Activities are very sparse and not your usual vacation vibe events.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Do not expect anything exceptional as far as entertainment. Musicians are okay, and then we saw the basic comedian and magician. Best place is on the aft of the boat deck 11 for the sail away Hawaiian music.
Children's Programs
no children
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Staff and servers are extremely friendly!
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Ship is small and very old. Nothing at all to brag about. Our room had a layer of dust in areas so cleanliness wasn't top notch.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
For an inside cabin we were pleased at the layout and comfort. It gets very rocky in the waters around the islands and you definitely feel it on this ship and lower decks.
Ship tip
Remember you are just going for the destinations! Don't expect much from the ship. Also, a lot of other cruisers reported getting seasick so bring medicine.
Loved exploring Kauai on our own. We went on the "Directors Cut" excursion the first day and did not enjoy it. It was an hour shorter than what was promised and did not bring us to a lot of the filming locations that were advertised. We just drove by slowly "look to your left, that is the field Jurassic Park was filmed in" and kept going. (Go to the ranch on Oahu for movie filming locations if that's what interests you)
Looks like you took the cruise for what is dedigned for, seeing and learning about Hawaii and relaxing Hawaiian style. That is why we enjoy it and have done it multiple times. We save the party and casino cruises for other cruises. There is an onboard the ship app that gives daily info. It only works onboard.
Our experience with the "Director's Cut" in Kauai was completely different. Our tour guide was a local that stopped at multiple places and told us much of the history of the different movie sets and also stories about growing up in Kauai. We were very entertained. I'm sorry that your experience was not up to par, especially since this was not an inexpensive excursion.
