Trip was on our bucket list, so one more check mark.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation went smoother than the usual Norwegian embarkation days
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Food was pretty good overall for me; my wife not so much. I thought the Italian specialty restaurant could have offered more specific dishes. The quality of the Moderno food was very good but the service staff seemed to be pushing you out as quickly as possible - we ate in less than 60 minutes; the French restaurant was outstanding. The sit down breakfasts were preferred to the chaotic buffet breakfast. One breakfast server in particular, Rosana, was terrific.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Not much onboard activities other than the pools and fitness room, but that was okay by our group (two couples). However an outdoor walking deck was not marked out, so not too many morning walkers,
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The comedian was outstanding - one of the best we ever encountered on a cruise. The piano player had two prime nights - Elton John and Billy Joel - along with his daily routines, which provided very good entertainment. The magician did an adequate job but is not one of our favorite acts. I thought the ship could have organized some outside evening activities (suggestion: outdoor movies on the pool deck).
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All of the staff we ran into were friendly.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
It is an older ship, so you don't expect too much. However, I thought they could have added more tables and chairs in the Pink Lounge - we were constantly scrambling to find 4 seats. The main stage is small, so you will not get a big production as you would on newer ships.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Small cabins but comfortable. Shower is smaller than we are accustomed to.
Ship tip
Excursions from the ship are extremely expensive. Better off booking on another provider like Viator. Even rent a car and explore the islands on your own - much cheaper.
