Great vacation! If you treat this ship like a floating hotel and spend most of your time ashore, you’ll be very happy! Don’t waste your time on the comedy show.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Very easy. Arrived at the port around d 1:30pm. No wait to board.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The Aloha Cafe, Cadillac Diner, and specialty restaurants were all good. Only disappointment was East Meets West, which was just okay food wise.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
This cruise doesn’t have much to offer entertainment wise. It’s best to consider the ship as a floating hotel.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Acoustic with Doug was always entertaining. The band “The Wave” was consistently a hilarious mess. (The volume of instruments to vocals was always bad and the singer wasn’t very good, but we found it funny)
The magician was entertaining and fairly impressive, but the comedian is seriously bad. As in offensive and not up to NCL standards. He doesn’t really tell jokes, but interacts with the audience. The closest he came to telling a joke was a very offensive rant about the deaf community, where he mimicked a deaf accent and made fun of the deaf community. He doesn’t belong on NCL ships.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Some of the staff really does well, others put in minimal effort. Michael at La Cucina was AMAZING! Such a nice guy. He even took the time to say hello to us the second time we dined there, even though he wasn’t our waiter that time! Sue, Charlie, Dawson and the gal that attends the beer & wine bar in Aloha Cafe also stood out as really awesome. Great people!
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
I was a little worried from the photos that this place was going to be very gaudy and barfing AMERICA!! The reality is that it is a quaint ship with a lot of aloha spirit. We ended up loving it!
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The cabin was nice. It did have the world’s smallest shower, but we got used to it.
Ship tip
Treat the ship as a hotel. Spend your days in Hawaii and your nights onboard. La Cucina has the best food and service on the ship!
Skip all the free transportation. They’ll only take you to little malls that aren’t near anything else. Instead book an excursion or rent a car. We rented a car and drove to Waimea Canyon.
Good review. Just did our 7th POA cruise a couple weeks befor and enjoyed it from the easy boarding to the helpful staff and good food. We see so much of Hawaii each tine, new and old.
Great review! So well detailed. Could not agree more w/ “the world’s smallest shower” observation ~
