Review summary

Pricey, but if you want to experience all of Hawaii, this is a great and leisurely way to do it. We don't cruise much so the cruise experience was above average for us and we thought the crew did a tremendous job taking care of everyone. Would have enjoyed a little more nightly entertainment options and variety, but the cruise is really about the ports of call so understand the limits here.

Embarkation

Very efficient. Really liked the choose your boarding window which seemed to keep the flow even.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food in general was very good. the buffet dining became repetitive in terms of food options but it all was good. Enjoyed going to the included Skyline main dining room where service was excellent and variety was good. Only poor experience was going to the Cadillac Diner where service was poor and the food was poorly prepared--certainly didn't warrant the wait to get into it. Did not try the specialty restaurants, but they all seemed to have great menus and looked very inviting. Drinks were average, what you would expect from a cruise line bar.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
used the pool and hot tubs. We were surprised how small the overall pool and area was. It was always crowded and basically had to wait in line to get a spot in a hot tub. Most notable was the lack of evening entertainment in the Theatre, there were nightly shows (magic, comedy, etc.) but they were typically only 45 mins. long and then nothing. It would have been nice to possibly have some current movies or more acts, something to spend the evening time on.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
the shows were okay but too short

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
Splash Academy was a hit with our 2 grandchildren. well run program

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff & service overall were very good and friendly. I could not have expected anything more from them.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Cleanliness was very good, particularly of note was the Aloha Café, main buffet area, where they were turning over large volumes of people & food, the staff worked relentlessly keeping it clean. Ship lay out was a bit awkward, particularly having to wait on elevators to get to the various levels.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Small, but sufficient for the week. Loved the balcony & bed was comfortable. Bathroom was really tight for a bigger person like myself.

Ship tip

Make the most of the ports of call as they are what this cruise is all about.
