Review summary

I as very disappointed with NCL. If not for the islands we visited, this would been a horriable cruise. There were several rude employees, employees in the gift shops were rude, and Drinks were not free as advertiised as we were charged tax for each drink. The only shop this great customer service was the jewelry store. Was told we got two free special dinners but was charged for the second one (customer service did nothing to retifiy and this appears to be an employee mistake in telling use we had two free dinners). If you want to see several Hawaii Islands this is the way to go, just expect some rude employees. The pool was no heated as I have seen on other curises thus very few people used them.

Very inexperiance staff. Tried to order next day meal due to food allergies but no one seem to know how to do this. On the last day finally someone stated they could have done this and do for other guest.

Ship tip

Do not expect great service like you do at other cruises. Also when it says drinks are included…they are not. You still have to pay the taxes on all drinks. Also be very wary of the free special diner. We went to reserve our diner to be told we had two not one special free dinner. We scheduled to two dinners only to find out we would be charged for the second one. We alerted customer service about the mistake and they stated we were only allowed one free dinner….no effort to reimburse.

Hoping things get better before our cruise in February 2023. First time on NCL, Bucket List, Retirement-Birthday celebration and I had so hoped this would be a memorable vacation. We did book an aft suite for our group of four. Reading these poor reviews just makes me nervous. We will make the best of things. Just concerned by the additional hidden charges (tax) on drinks and the discrepancies with the specialty dining. The Free at Sea that is advertised… I cannot help but wonder if something else happened to cause you to lose your second dinners in the specialty Restraunt’s??? Normally most cruise lines cater to guests making these reservations. So sorry this happened to you. Thanks for sharing

Pride of America is not a normal NCL cruise ship since it is flagged in the US so that it can cruise round-trip in Hawaii. The primary advantage is that you can cruise in Hawaii without having to say or two or from the US mainland or another foreign port. The staff shortages and cutbacks on that ship have been well publicized this year.

The drink tax maybe because of the state of Hawaii. I know when we went Alaska we were charged tax on drinks we bought in Seattle port.
