Review summary

I thought the cruise was amazing. My ship was at 40% capacity. This was nice in many ways. It was low-key. There were no pushy upselling, no push to buy diamonds and attend hairy man chest contest. There were very few intercom announcements Although I like the party atmosphere of Carnival at times this cruise was all about the beauty of Hawaii and fine dining. The staff was wonderful. It was an experience of a life time and I am thankful I got to have it!

Entertainment

Was too busy adventuring around Hawaii and too tired after dinner to attend shows. There seemed to be no mist shows anyway. I was satisfied with my trip.

Cabin / Stateroom

My cabin was lovely. We traveled with 5 adults. One with mobility issues. I should have requested a Handicap room as the room was too tight once the Murphy bed and couch was opened for the night. This is my fault. Regardless I would say that the room is small for 5-6 adults. The bathroom is large actually and that was nice. But otherwise the space was tight for a large group. Surprisingly We were able to nest and find a space for all suitcase items. 10 suitcases fit under the large main bed.

Ports of call

Honolulu, Oahu

We enjoyed Waikiki beach and Pearl Harbor

Kahului, Maui

I loved road to Hana. A note to those with mobility issue is that this port is difficult. There is about 1/2 mile walk to catch an Uber or non- cruise excursion. When we asked about a taxi for the 1/2 mile we were meet with a rude why can’t you walk. That’s was the one weird rude experience of our trip. I don’t know why but a lady at the pier was in charge of taxis and she just didn’t get it. Some of my party simply can’t do the 1/2 mile without a wheelchair which I didn’t bring. I only had a walker.

Hilo, Hawaii

All the ports are at the cargo areas. So not so beautiful but a short walk gets you to the beauty. I recommend the free zoo. Also beautiful beaches nearby. We also shopped and enjoyed Lihaina

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

Kona is my favorite. Here you tinder to a port that can be enjoyed with an Uber, etc. for those who love quilting be sure to visit Quilt Passions

Nawiliwili, Kauai

Here I rented a car. I enjoyed driving around the island. It was a lush tropical area. Less commercialized.

We were on the Pride of America 3 weeks ago. Really enjoyed Hawaii. The ship and the crew was fantastic. With only 40% capacity, everything was easy to get, from entertainment, food, and especially the drinks. I’ve been on 4 other cruises with Norwegian, by far the Pride of America was the most relaxing while we enjoyed the Hawaiian islands.
