We had a good time on this trip. However we paid for a balcony room that we were not able to use much due to work being done on the lifeboat hanging mechanisms. This was a disappointing experience, as well as not being able to go to Pearl Harbor or Maui. Otherwise we had a positive experience with the ships staff. Most of the time the pool could not be used even on the day at sea when we were unable to go to Maui. The food and beverages were good.

Ship Quality

If I had known that the ship was undergoing a complete overhaul of the paint on the lifeboat hanging system right below our widow the entire week,I would have canceled this trip. Although the workers cleaned up the 6th floor deck each day we were left with paint and metal dust on the expensive balcony that I paid for so that we could have some quiet time. It was incredibly noisy from 8 AM until around 5 PM from the machinery being used to work on the area. Not to mention the smell of primer and paint was terrible. I cleaned the railings of the balcony and the chairs one day after the workers left. I felt cheated by Norwegian because of the extra money that I paid for this room. The room itself was clean and acceptable, but Iām totally disappointed by the experience.

Ship tip
Check on refurbishments being done to the ship with details concerning your room.
Also Iām disappointed that no one was aware that tours to Pearl Harbor would not be allowed on Pearl Harbor Day when this cruise is specific to that area. This was one of the main reasons why I wanted to go to Hawaii. I received a notice three weeks before the cruise that we could not go on the Pearl Harbor your.
Finally we were unable to port at Maui due to the ship and the waves. This was a total disappointment. We had looked forward to Maui for 11 months. I had 3 excursions booked on Maui.
Not sure of your schedule but Pearl Harbor, USS Arizona tours resumed later after Dec 7 morning ceremonies. Tickets went quickly as limited number are available.
Life boats still being worked on due to Coast Guard mandate. Ship goes in to dry dock for major overhaul next March. USCG couldn't wait for lifeboat work until then. Unfortunate fou you and others nearby.
Fortunately the weather is great so far. Last week was horrible and very unusual but not NCL fault. I heard they changed to two days in Hilo which has better protected harbor.
