Cruise ship was not the best but the destinations were well worth it
Embarkation
4 out of 5
It was fairly easy to get on the ship. Just be prepared to fill out additional paperwork, sweat in the hot terminal, and wait in a few lines before getting on the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The specialty dining options were not enjoyable. We bought 4 and asked for a refund for one. The menus offered fancy names for the 4-5 choices you had for main dishes. The choices were not anything I would have chosen to eat. I enjoyed the main dining room at Skyline/Liberty more, especially for breakfast. Liberty does not allow really casual attire. Men must have closed toed shirts and nice shirts, no beachy attire. The service at Jefferson's bistro was bad. The experience at the specialty dining options we tried (Jefferson's Bistro, Cagney's, and La Cucina) were not worth the money in my honest opinion. It took two hours to be waited on and served (for the two of us) at Jefferson's Bistro and at Cagney's.
I received the wrong meal at Jefferson's and they didn't bring out the right starter for my husband. La Cucina would have been our top choice out of the three due to service and better choice of food offered.
FYI This ship does Not offer lobster as amain course at all in any of their restaurants. I was looking forward to it like on the other cruises I have been on. Just letting you know so you're not disappointed.
Room service food was not great, but was available 24/7. We enjoyed the Cadillac cafe for the decor and service was quick on port days. Skyline offered a good breakfast too.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
My husband used the gym and golf areas. He liked them. We did not have time for the pools on this cruise.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The music shows were good. The comedian was not that funny. We did not see the magician.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our room steward was awesome. We tipped him an additional amount before we left. The specialty dining waiters were not very good. The regular dining waiters were good. Some ship personnel were very helpful while others were just there for the job.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
It was as clean as an older ship could be. It wasn't left trashy.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
This was a handicap accessible cabin. It was spacious enough for my collapsible electric wheelchair. The room was kept clean, stocked in bathroom, and had enough storage for our things. We had storage under bed for our bags. The bed was firm which my husband likes, but too hard for me to get a good nights rest. Balcony was fine, but overlooked the large equipment on deck below. We had a clear view of the ocean/land when it was on our side. This cabin is port side so we dodnt have great views until the last sail day when we enjoyed the narration and cruise by if the gorgeous Na Pali coast! I'm glad we had that side for the convenience of sailing by from comfort & privacy from the personal balcony.
Ship tip
The elevators were nightmares when people were scrambling to get on and off the ship. Many people don't have elevator etiquette. I sat in my wheelchair and had many able bodied passengers rush past me to squeeze in the elevators so I couldnt get on. Thay was and will be one of my biggest pet peeves. Rude people and "me first" passengers abound on these cruises. .
No excursion, personal rental. Saw Pearl harbor. Honolulu was big city and not very pretty. Saw a lot of homeless people too :'(. It was my least favorite.
Beautiful in the volcano park. We rented a car and followed the road to the ocean and saw where the lava flowed into the ocean in the past. Not an active volcano. We stood on old lava and took pictures on this island.
I didn't get to tender to this side due to my wheelchair. I sent my spouse to get souvenirs and I rested and went to the spa for one of their specials.
My favorite excursion was on this port. We took the helicopter ride to view the island. It was Spectacular! I would definitely do it again. Our pilot was Bethand she did a wondefyl
