Nice way to see Hawaii for a first timer. NCL has the market cornered.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We were on one of the first buses from the hotel to the port. By the time we walked in to the time we had our shipboard card was less than 15 minutes.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The food started out that the beginning of the week very good, by the end of the week, we had a hard time finding something to eat. The food selection tin was not good and the quality was ok at best
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
The pools were very small and the 4 hot tubs could only sit about 6 people. One of the hot tubs was not working
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The guest performers were4 very good. The on ship performers were ok.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
By not having the same servers, sometimes we had very good service and at other not very good. Had to ask the room steward for a bar of soap. Did have a towel animal almost every day.
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
The ship needed some major TLC. Our balcony railing had not had a coat of varnish on it in years. I felt like I needed a tentis shot after laying my hands on it. Had a great view of the top of the lifeboats. They were not tucked under like on other ships that I have been on.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The cabin was very small. Smaller than other balcony cabins that I have had on other lines. Could not sit on the balcony looking straight out has it was not very deep without my feet needing to hang over the edge. The railing needed a good sanding and a coat of varnish.
Ship tip
I would not get a balcony again for this sailing. We always sailed at night and did not see any of the land and lava flows. The only time a balcony was good was on the last day and you needed to be on the port side.
Pearl Harbor was a disappointment. They only take you out by boat close to the Arizona but not very close so you could not see it in the water. The Missouri was very good
The port was a cargo port. Had to walk about 1/2 mile to get to our bus for our tour. The park and Road to Hana was good. Doing the back side was not as pretty
We had to tender in Kona. The Kona Coffee and Chocolate was good. Both gave us a nice presentation and Kona C coffee gave everyone a coffee mug on the bus for attending.
The tour and luau was great. The view of the canyon was beautiful. The food at the luau was GREAT and so was the entertainment. The transfer back to the ship was very poor.
Getting off the ship was good. The only time al week that the Aloha Cafe was packed. Would liked to have more places to eat or sit as they wanted everyone off by 8:30
