The cruise was ok - not our first time to Hawaii but the first time to cruise around the islands. Probably will not do a cruise again - we realized that we can enjoy Hawaii better on our own.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation was easy enough but only because we found a baggage handler outside who was fantastic in taking care of us. If left the the pier security crew (old, cranky, deaf and useless) the embarkation would have been a nightmare.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Sadly, the buffet was the best in the Aloha Cafe but that's not saying a much. We were surprised at the low quality of the food in the main dining room (oversalted entrees (and we like salt) and tasteless desserts. Service was good which unfortunately did not compensate for the poorly prepared food. We tried the Cadillac Grill once for breakfast and once for dinner - no better.
Onboard Activities

Entertainment
3 out of 5
Pretty sad entertainment. The stage shows were almost painful to endure. The comedian was good though.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Our room steward was really pleasant. Whether or not other ship personnel were were pleasant at the beginning of the cruise was hit or miss. However, in all fairness, all the ship personnel warmed up as the cruise progressed - maybe by the 3rd or 4th day of the cruise.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship is well maintained considering its' age.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Nothing out of the ordinary - typical balcony room. The bed linens were really comfortable but the mattress needs to be replaced - saggy and soft.
Ship tip
The shore excursions are ridiculously priced. Wait until you get to each island and make your own arrangements outside of the ship.
We've sailed on Pride of America Hawaiian Islands cruise itinerary three times already and has been our favorite destination of all cruise itineraries we've been on. This in my opinion is the absolute best way to enjoy all of the Hawaiian islands. Definitely looking forward to the next cruise on POA again
We are long time travellers around Hawaii, for many decades. Pride is the best way to go, especially for cost of food and lodging and transportation to each major island. No wasted time and hassle at multiple airports and you only unpack once. If all you want to do is go to a beach and shop, it is not the best option. If you want enjoy all Hawaii offers and uniqueness of each majir island, this cruise is great. Plus you are not in port with other ships and nany thousands of other cruisers. We are doing our seventh cruise on the Pride ahain in a few months. Cannot wait.
It all depends on what you want to see and do. If you want to just hang at the beach and shop, I agree. But if you want to enjoy the major Hawaiian islands for what is special to each one, avoid wasted hours in airports, POA is the best deal, especially for total costs of transportation, food and room. We are doing our seventh Pride cruise in a few months. Love it.
