I’ve been to Hawaii before (30 years ago). This was most definitely the best way to experience the islands. Loved having overnite in Maui and Kauai, which I feel are the best islands.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Seamless. Walked in ship in about 10 min. The only issue is none of the cabins were ready until about 330pm (we boarded around noon)
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We are in buffet (aloha cafe) except one evening we ate in liberty DR. Food was great, only issue was wish they had seated us with others.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Since the ship is in port every day there was little need for onboard activities.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Entertainment was so so
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Staff was great and went out of their way to please you
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Loved not having smoky casino you had to walk through. Didn’t muss it at all. Actually loved not having casino on board and wish if ships must have them, put them at one end or the other instead of in the middle forcing people to walk through them. Ship well laid out.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
First time cruising inside cabin. Was great except not having window for daylight was hard getting up in the morning. Our cabin was 137 sf which sounds small but plenty of room to store stuff. Luggage (32” roller) fit under bed.
Ship tip
Book your tours early. Many sell out on NCl. Do your homework, shop other sources for tours. The most popular tours are the Pearl Harbor with airport dropoff. Book it first!!
Oahu is a city like many others. Many things to see/do. Pearl Harbor a must. Waikiki beach shoots off fireworks on Friday evenings if you come in the day before sailing.
Road to Hana is a must. Go with Roberts Hawaii tours. Their drivers know this road and Hawaii history. Also Haleakala crater is a must. They offer sunrise, sunset or daytime tours.
We did Pearl Harbor/airport dropoff tour. This was seamless. Walked off ship around 8 am got luggage (no customs since hawaii is US) and walked right into your bus with luggage. Again we wished we had more time at Pearl Harbor, but the issue is you can’t bring luggage or any backpack, purse, etc there so this was only option unless we got a hotel for day since our flight home was 9 pm that evening.
