A wonderful way to get a taste of the Hawaiian Islands. I really like the ship and their activities and staff. Everyone was so cordial and friendly. Really wish they hadn’t confiscated my measly 6 pack of Diet Pepsi. Reminiscent of nickel and diming your target audience when they’ve already paid a substantial amount of $ towards this cruise.
Embarkation

So well organized and fast. They did confiscate my Diet Pepsi from my luggage during embarkation which I found odd. Never had that happen on any other cruise line. When I inquired they said it was listed as a ‘dangerous substance’. When I picked it up at the end of the cruise the staff lady said “hold on...I’ll get your liquor”. I replied that it wasn’t liquor, rather it was a 6 pack of Diet Pepsi. She said “What?” I again told her it was a 6 pack of Diet Pepsi. She kind of shook her head and went into the back and came out with my Diet Pepsi. She was still shaking her head and the other passengers in the line queued up to retrieve their liquor were incredulous.

Food and Dining

The buffet and the main dining rooms were really good. Really liked the Cadillac diner as well. And Dominic, master crepe maker was the best. So personable and his crepes were to die for. If there’s a line be sure and wait. You wont be disappointed. If it wasn’t for the East meets West disaster this category would have 5 stars.
East Meets West

Absolutely inedible. I must say this was so bad we had a couple of bites and left. The consistency of the chicken Kung pao was more like tofu than meat. The taste of the chicken lo mein was indescrible.
Onboard Activities

Really nice shows in the evening - one evening the ship was rocking a lot and the performers were fabulous. I’m not sure how they staying upright but they did!!! At the pool I had 1 Pina Colada and it cost $15 - really?!?

Tommy Mendoza, our steward on the 9th deck was fabulous. He found out i have a dog at home that i was missing and he made me a towel animal to keep during the cruise. So incredibly thoughtful!

A little small but, hey, we don’t spend a lot of time in there so no worries.
Do your homework before cruising and you'll know they don't allow bringing soda onboard. "Effective for sailings July 15, 2016 and beyond, guests are prohibited from bringing any beverages" onboard NCL ships.
This is what I’ve seen: If a cruise line allows soda, it needs to be in your carry on (or hand carried with you). If it’s in your checked luggage, they take it since they don’t know if you are also trying to bring soda on both ways (carry on and checked luggage), therefore bringing twice as much as allowed. I don’t know the rules on your cruise but that’s what I’ve seen on other lines...
