Review summary

I enjoyed this cruise around the Hawaiian Islands. It gave us a wonderful overview of all of them and now we will be best able to decide which island we will go back to.

Embarkation

It was so easy! We walked into the terminal. I guess we missed the crowds because we arrived around 2 p.m. Within 10 minutes we were on our way to the ship.

Food and Dining

The Liberty dinning room was lovely. It really fit into the ship's name. We ate at Cagneys, the french and Italian specialty dinning rooms. The decor was ok..nothing special. I think it would have been nice to offer more flair in ways of music and decoration to fit the specific regions. I was disappointed that there wasn't more local dishes offered. The buffet was adequate. Generally the food in the dinning rooms was good.

The first day I won a $75. gift certificate to the spa. I wanted to choose a massage that was different from mine at home. When I looked at the menu (without any explanations) I choose the Bamboo massage. There were 2 prices listed on the menu. One was listed as a "value price". That confused me. I thought that it was the price for the service. Of course, that was not correct. I hadn't asked the correct questions regarding this. The massage was lovely. When checking out in the massage room I asked my therapist what the 18% charge was for because she had included a line for tip. Not additional tip, but tip. I thought the 18% was for the tip and she explained that that was the standard service charge throughout the ship. I added a 20% tip and when I was thinking about this the day after I realized that I had been mislead. I spoke to the manager of the Spa and told her about this and she was able to deduct the additional tip from my bill, although I did tip her an additional $10. I feel that this practice is intentionally confusing. I found that this was done by bartenders as well. It makes me feel that if we did not additionally tip someone, you were being cheap. Our gratuities were included in our package for the cruise. We did additionally tip some servers and our cabin staff, but it was at our discretion.
