Review summary

It was really not what we were expecting, but it was a great way to see parts of the other islands. Would consider doing it again with a newer ship and more to offer in the evenings when not in port.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5

Skyline Restaurant

4 out of 5

If I had to rate the experience just based on our waitress, Ellen (we requested her EVERY TIME we ate there for dinner), I would give it a RAVING review! She was EXCELLENT! Otherwise, the food was just okay. I was not blown away by any of the food onboard, with the exception of the Teppenyaki restaurant where the food was really good.

Teppanyaki

5 out of 5

Very fun atmosphere and the food was excellent. The only meal that we paid for that was actually worth it!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We didn't find ourselves participating in too many activities as we were off of the ship for most days in port and only went to dinner at night. I didn't find that there was too much to enjoy regarding activities.

Entertainment

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Seemed like most of the staff were not very happy to be working there. From what we had heard, Norwegian has quite a bit of turnover. It showed.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Not the most beautiful ship we have been on. Felt like it needed a major overhaul. Very outdated.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
I feel that the cleaning crew could have done a better job in certain areas, but our room was clean for the most part. I was really impressed with the water pressure in the shower. Didn't even mind showering in such a small space because of that.

Ship tip

If you're cruising just to see the Hawaiian Islands, it's a great way to see everything. Otherwise, I would have to say that it was overpriced for what is offered.

Ports of call

Honolulu, Oahu

Kahului, Maui

Hilo, Hawaii

4 out of 5
Didn't get to do too much exploring as it was raining so hard the day we were in port.

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

5 out of 5
My favorite port. Enjoyed the tender in and everything was within walking distance. Lots to see and do.

Nawiliwili, Kauai

5 out of 5
Beautiful! Wish that there would have been a bit more time on the last day, but thoroughly enjoyed being able to admire the daytime view of the Napali Coast--breathtaking!

Disembarkation

Walked off with our luggage. Great option!

This is the only ship to just Hawaii without a long voyage across the Pacific. That is why it is the only U.S. be registered cruise ship in the world. Ship size is dictated by the size of the ports on the different islands.
