Review summary

I can't think of a better way to see Hawaii.  It was our first trip to Hawaii and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip.  I must say the waters were pretty rough at times, more rough than our Caribbean cruises but for me, I push through and try to savor every minutes.  The shows were outstanding!  We loved the piano bar and ended most of our evenings there.  The food was okay, not the best I've had on a cruise.  The place where the service was the best was at the Liberty Restaurant (upstairs from the Skyline as I remember).  The service at Skyline was slow and the wait staff was not very friendly.  Liberty was just the opposite.  There was not much variety at the Aloha Cafe.  Our steward was very sweet and always attentive.  Overall, our cruise experience was very good.

Everything that was offered seemed a bit aged for us so we didn't really participate.

I was surprised that the bathroom was still as small as our inside cabin was on an earlier cruise. Overall though the room was good. We loved having a balcony. We will try to avoid the obstructed view next time and will also try to stay on a lower deck since we understand that the higher you are the rougher the "ride". We also had issue with one of our neighbors smoking on their balcony which we knew was prohibited. We did report it. Overall it was good.

Ship tip

Stay in a balcony room but avoid the obstructed view. Plan to eat in the Liberty Restaurant for the best food and service so ladies bring enough dresses, gentlemen need collared shirts.

Ports of call

Honolulu, Oahu

Plan to rent a car and drive over to North Shore. Worth the trip. Dole Pineapple Plantation is on that side of the island and that was great. Honolulu has a lot of traffic and is not as pretty as North Shore.

Kahului, Maui

We did the Road to Hana that day and loved it. We downloaded an app called Gypsy Guide to Road to Hana and it was awesome. It has a built in GPS that gives you history or information about an area as you approach it. The drive to and from the Road to Hana along the ocean was beautiful. We loved the Garden of Eden, well worth the stop and small admissions fee.

Not my favorite stop but the town was fun and the Botanical Garden was great. We saw Sea Turtles on this stop.

Loved this stop. We went on a submarine ride here and loved it. It was so awesome to see the coral reef, lots of species of fish and even some ship wrecks. We also saw the black sand beach (a little disappointing because there really wasn't a great place to lay out and it was super crowded).
