Review summary

This was my first cruise on Norwegian and it was quite good.  As a graduation present to my granddaughter, it met the bill for visiting the majority of the islands and giving us sufficient time to do so.  The check in and out was outstanding. The wait was not long and getting off with their easy off by taking your own bags was perfect for us.  Getting on and off the ship at the ports was very good.  Food was good and the ship is not so big that you find it overwhelming.  Shore excursions were reasonable even though I had booked through another company, when I compared their prices to Norwegian, they were competitive.  Staff friendly and service good.  They had a program for 18-20 year olds which was perfect for our granddaughter as she connected with others her age and I knew she was safe as she stayed out way after our bedtime!  On the flip side, they need to speed up their service in the main dining rooms.  Main courses came in a timely manner, but the wait for desserts were at times excessive.  Hours at the buffet could be extended especially for breakfast.  All in all a wonderful experience for my granddaughter and a lovely time for us to make memories.

Onboard Activities

They could have a bit more interactive games and more trivia.

Entertainment

My expectations for cruise entertainment is theme park quality and this cruise was no different. We did though enjoy the Oh What a Night group and the magician.

Children's Programs

We were traveling with our 18 year old granddaughter and they had a wonderful program for 18-20 year olds.

Cabin / Stateroom

Having three adults (an 18 year old is an adult) made the cabin tight. When the pull out sofa was pulled out, we had little room to move around, but that was our choice. The space was designed efficiently.

Ship tip

Our room was quiet and nicely located to get to either end of the ship. Book on the 8th so that there are no common spaces above or below you. Don't worry about reservations for the dining rooms. There were always tables in Liberty and Skylight. Might be tighter in East Meets West.

Arrived two days early so could get over jetllag and had opportunity to visit some sites. Also hired private guide at trip's end since we had six hours until getting to the airport after disembarking

Kahului, Maui

Baldwin Beach is a short drive from the ship. Uber is the way to go. Uber is only available in Honolulu and Maui.

Hilo, Hawaii

My favorite tour to the Volcanic National Park and chocolate factory. Make sure to visit it.

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii Did not visit port

Loved the tour we took of the island. Small tour with interesting guide.

Nawiliwili, Kauai Did not visit port

Shopped, but could have used more time on second day before shipping off to go back to beach.
