Review summary

We'd never been to Hawai'i before. Research showed this was the best way both for breadth of sights and economy. It was GREAT! The ship, staff and itinerary were the best. Other lines offer Hawai'i, but sail from the mainland and don't spend as much time touring this paradise. And we cruise both NLC and Royal Caribbean. When we left home, it was rainy and cold. Direct flight from Atlanta to Honolulu and we were rewarded with hight 70's and sun!

Included dining was very good, but the filet I had in Cagney's was the best I'd ever had - including Ruth's Chris.

Onboard Activities

As busy as we were with evening shows and excursions, we only did a little dancing a couple evenings. But they were awfully nice. But then, I've been married to a beautiful gal for 45 years.

Cabin / Stateroom

Kind of tight - only around 170 sq ft including balcony. But it was spotless and comfortable. Pure delight was waking early as the sun was beginning to come up and we were arriving at the next port and watching this unbelievable beauty from our balcony.

Ship tip

Check the layout of the ship before booking your cabin. While we had great views, some the balcony cabins toward the bow have blocked views forward because other forward cabins stick out farther.

We got there a couple days early, stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and meandered around the place including a tour of Pearl Harbor. Don't come that far without seeing a bit of Honolulu.

Be sure to see the lava tubes and the Moana Loa factory which has a nice sandwich shop (good sandwiches and not pricey).
