Review summary
This cruise was definitely worth it for the itinerary. Each island offered lovelier vistas than the previous one, unbelievable as they seemed to be, culminating with a sunset sail along the Na Pali Coast on Kauai. As for the ship, it was fine, though it showed some signs of heavy usage. The food in the restaurants, even the complimentary ones, was uniformly excellent. The buffet, however, was pretty ordinary, suffered from over-usage and insufficient replenishment, and was shut down or partially shut down at inconvenient times. The crew seemed willing, but were definitely not trained servers. The shore excursions are a must, to see the Volcanoes Park and the Waimea Canyon. I would have rated the cruise higher if not for one problem. There was a slight but noticeable sulphurous odor in our stateroom, which became extremely obvious and uncomfortable on the last night, to the extent that we had to open the balcony door for several hours to get fresh air. My throat was burning.
