7 Night Hawaii (Honolulu Roundtrip)
Sail Date: May 30, 2009
Ship: Pride of America
Cabin Type: Balcony
Traveled As: Couple
Reviewed: 8 years ago
After reading the reviews (mixed) prior to our trip, I was a little concerned that we might step into a bad situation. After 7 days aboard the Pride of America, I can tell you that any bad experience has to be a fluke and not systemic. The crew was wonderful, responsive, and timely. The ship was "ship-shape" and the ports of call beautiful.

I absolutely loved it!

Food and Dining

Great restaurants...skip Lazy J's and go for Jefferson's Bistro...cheaper and the food is better! Not that Lazy J's isn't...just better value!

Skyline restaurant is great...

Go to the fantail (back of the ship) for breakfast! Great views!

Heard a lot about an All-American crew not as good as others...if that's true, I didn't see it. Very good crew!

Ship Quality

Laid out nicely...pools are a little small. Absolutely spotless!

Balcony room...very nice!

Probably can do Maui Downhill and Winery tour cheaper...nice, but not as nice as the volcano tour bicycling in Hilo...wait til take a tour up unto the volcanos in Maui...the view is magnificent

Beautiful island...remember, Hawaii beaches are all public. Go to the Marriott and lay out in the grass in front of the beach...within walking distance of the ship!
Don't Miss: Swap Meet in O'ahu...when you get back to Honolulu, go to Aloha Stadium and get your souveniers for pennies on the dollar as compared to everywhere else!

Went snorkeling...if that's what you want to do, wait until you get to port and go with a local. The excursion was great, but pricey...

Great tour on bikes...if you can, do the bikes...not the bus!
Don't Miss: Volcano National Park - A must see!

Pros: Staff, Ports of Call, Hawaii of course

Cons: to spend a few more days there!

Recommends Pride of America? Yes!
