Review summary
We think this was probably the very best cruise we have been on, out of about 10 cruises. It was the first 15 days of the 111 day 2020 World Cruise, very nice pace with a few sea days in between ports to totally unwind. Beautiful older elegant smaller ship but we enjoyed it thoroughly.
Embarkation

Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The MDR was great with a nice selection of starters, appetizers and main courses each meal. Enjoyed the excellent service of Caji and Miadrag each evening and they quickly learned our preferences. There were two dining times with assigned seating so no waiting line once we knew where our table was, we all went to our assigned table. We tried the wonderful Sabatini’s twice and the food did not disappoint either time. Server Elena was warm, friendly yet professional and served us royally. The maitre’d of the ship Claudio was great. He made the rounds in every dining venue and greeted each table. It’s obvious he is well respected by the staff and their excellent attitudes and service shows they are a team. We also ate at Sterling Steakhouse and the meals there were excellent, with service and food quality equivalent to an excellent high rated steakhouse.

Entertainment

The 2-3 shows we attended were good. The dancers and bands were good, seemed to have lots of energy and talent.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The service onboard the Pacific Princess was excellent, absolutely no complaints. Abigail our room steward was amazing. Once she learned we are early risers, she had our room refreshed quickly usually done by the end of our breakfast. The waiters we had in the MDR and specialty restaurants were all amazing, friendly and seemed anxious to serve.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I would say this ship could be described as an older elegant classy lady. We weren’t sure we would like a small ship since we had only been on the larger ships like Royal, Regal and Island. We were pleasantly surprised that we fell in love with it. No long “cattle herding” lines to disembark, no long lines for meals, lots of empty pool loungers on sea days. Slightly more movement on windy choppy sea days, but quickly got accustomed to it. Lots of areas to sit and read if you wished to do so.
Folks, we love Cabo, we really do, have been 3-4 different times. Beautiful area and beaches. Great restaurants. But the vendors have made the port almost unbearable with their aggressive yelling as you walk by, from face lotions, to glass bottom boats, to whale watching, to jewelry store, to restaurants. If you ignore them, they say something derogatory or curse at you in Spanish. I’m not sure what can be done, probably nothing. Just sad. No excursion here since we had visited before, just walked around, ate some food at Karlito’s Cantina and went back to ship...where it was quiet.
Nice clean port area, walk off ship to nice thatch roof terminal for souvenir shops and clean rest rooms then to shuttles and buses for excursions. Welcomed at the pier by mariachi band and dancers. We did mangrove cruise which was a waste of time. Although it was advertised to see lots of birds, maybe alligators, other animals. We saw nothing but lots of mangroves and a few “snake birds” or loons which we have at home in Fla. Felt it could have been advertised a bit differently. The guide even said that region has no alligators.
We took water shuttle to the port, walked around the town, ate lunch, bought some cool shirts from bamboo shop. Nice shops and restaurants at the port. Super hot and humid so we did not walk into tow but went back to ship. Mountains here were just amazing.
Amazingly fast disembarkation. Maybe because we were only ship docked and only half of the world cruise passengers were disembarking. Port employees were friendly and helpful in guiding us to the right place and onto airport shuttles.
Disembarking in LA was the quickest and most organized of any port we’ve been into and out of. Friendly workers to direct you to the correct place, luggage was organized by color and the airport shuttle was quickly loaded. Great experience.
Thank you Babyruth10 for your excellent and detailed review of the Pacific Princess. We are sailing on the PP this October in French Polynesia. We sailed the old Tahitian Princess on this itinerary and loved it.
Wonder if the Claudio you met is the same Maitre’d we met over ten years ago on the Island Princess. Our Claudio was a wonderful young man with a dry sense of humor from Parma, Italy. Would be great to see him again in October.
We have sailed on this (Pacific princess). now try Azamara cruise line .The 3 ships in the fleet are the same class (renaissance). Azamara and Princess are worlds apart.Give them ago
Happy
