Review summary

This was the greatest cruise I have ever sailed! Odyssey of the Seas is an excellent ship and I would highly recommend everyone try it out!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Super smooth and easy. Once again, we used the Key and had expedited embarkation. Very few people were on our post-COVID sailing, so it was an experience unlike any other!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Purchased the Ultimate Dining Package and ate in all the specialty restaurants during our sailing. It was an excellent experience! The food and drinks were all delicious!

Wonderland Imaginative Cuisine

5 out of 5

This was our first visit to Wonderland and it was wild. We had no idea what to expect. It's not so much dinner as it is art. While I enjoyed the experience, it's not something I would repeat unless I had new cruisers with me.

Izumi Japanese Cuisine

5 out of 5

We ate at the hibachi and the food was delicious. The location is a little strange, but we were seated inside the restaurant so we did not have to eat in the hallway!

Sorrento's Pizza

5 out of 5

Who doesn't love Sorrento's? We certainly do! A great place to stop in for a slice of complimentary pizza!

Playmakers℠ Sports Bar & Arcade

5 out of 5

We always love Playmakers! The burgers are delicious, as are the nachos. I make sure to get the onion rings, which are tempura breaded. I love to eat here whenever we get the chance.

The Cafe @ Two70

5 out of 5

This was a great venue in the mornings, particularly before excursions. Not many people seemed to know about this spot, so we could stop in for breakfast and coffee with little to no wait!

Leaf and Bean Pub

5 out of 5

The pub on Quantum class ships serves food, unlike the pubs on other Royal ships. We stopped in and tried a large selection of their foods after a day spent on a catamaran. It was all excellent! I recommend stopping in for a light bite and trying all the delicious options!

Giovanni's Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar

5 out of 5

This was my first visit to Giovanni's and I was hooked! I love Italian food and this was no different. The stromboli and osso bucco stole the show!

El Loco Fresh

5 out of 5

The food was hot and tasty. It's a nice quick-service option on a busy sea day!

Chop's Grille

5 out of 5

This was my second visit to Chop's Grille and it was amazing! I tried the lamb medallions and was very impressed! Skip the mint jelly though.

Cafe Promenade

5 out of 5

This was a great spot to stop by for a quick snack before bed. Had a nice assortment of sandwiches and desserts for all tastes.

Bionic Bar®by Makr Shakr

5 out of 5

I always recommend everyone try a drink from the Bionic Bar. Make sure to try a "From Earth," it's the best drink in my opinion. The robots always have a heavy pour!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Because this was a post-COVID sailing, only about 1,600 people were on our sailing. We had free and open access to any activities at any time. The pools and loungers were nearly empty on sea days because of the limited capacity!

Royal Esplandade

5 out of 5

A great venue for shopping, people-watching, dining, and exploring!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment we did visit was good. On this cruise, we started skipping the shows and enjoyed our time spent together with family and exploring the ship more than we would have enjoyed sitting in a show!

Two70

5 out of 5

This is a beautiful venue! We loved to stop in on sea days and watch the water as we sailed. A great view of the wake can be seen from this venue! The entertainment was good too.

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service and staff onboard this sailing were 1,000 times above and beyond anything we had ever experienced. At times, the bar crew on the pool deck were so bored they were coming out to ask if we wanted more drinks and sometimes just bringing us drinks so they had something to do! It was excellent. The staff onboard Odyssey were all 10 stars!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was new, sailing during its Inaugural Season. The ship was new, modern, and clean!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a spacious oceanview balcony cabin on a bump out and it was great. Had great views down the length of the ship with plenty of room on the balcony for a group to enjoy sail-aways! The cabin itself was spacious with plenty of storage. Everything was incredibly clean!

Ship tip

Don't miss the Northstar activity on a Sea Day! It costs more but the experience is incredible!

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
We always stay in Miami and Uber to Ft Lauderdale when cruising. Port Everglades is a nice but industrial port. Security at the gate can be a little intimidating but nothing to be worried about.

Nassau, Bahamas Did not visit port

We stayed on the ship in Nassau and had a great day enjoying the ship amenities and a balcony room service breakfast!

Oranjestad, Aruba

5 out of 5
We loved Aruba! We did a catamaran sail and snorkel with an open bar through Pelican Adventures. It was an awesome experience! I don't snorkel, so I stayed on the catamaran and enjoyed strong drinks at the open bar. My sister snorkeled and enjoyed it, saying some of the stops were the best snorkeling she had done!

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
Had a great time in Curacao! We did an excursion that included hiking through the cave system in Curacao and then a stop at Mambo Beach. We enjoyed it and would recommend you visit Mambo Beach if you get the chance.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had a quick and smooth disembarkation. We had the Key and there were only 1600 people onboard, so everyone was disembarked quickly and easily!
