Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food has gone down hill in the years pre Covid. I feel as though, the cruise line wants you to utilize the specialty restaurants more. That is what we have done. We have gone from 1 specialty dinner to 3 . our next cruise in 2025, we will be skipping the dining room al together.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Bumper cars were fun. The gym was great. Pool and pool areas are just too crowded for on ship.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The entertainment was good. The band was not as good as previous ships. Guitar player in the Crown and Anchor was great. Did not enjoy the juggler or the ventriloquist. DJs were good.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Bar personnel seemed annoyed whenever I would order virgin drinks, Im sorry if I can't drink alcohol. We had the refreshment package. They also seemed put out when we would ask for water bottles. I don't understand why I couldn't order a coffee and a fresh squeezed OJ at once for my breakfast. The guy behind the counter made me order one and get back in line for the next. Our room steward was amazing as usual.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Everything was clean and pristine except for the Lime and Coconut bar up top. It smelled like vomit. I think the robotic bar was a wasted space. It was never used much except for some little kid with their parents. I dislike how you had to walk through it to get anywhere. Also you had to walk through Izumi restaurant where people were eating sometimes to get through on the opposite side.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was great, as usual with Royal, however Bed was extremely hard. Asked for a mattress topper, but not available. Pillows were super high for my neck. I had to take the pillow case off so the pillow would flatten out a bit. I did ask for a softer , flatter pillow and steward was able to find only one.

Ship tip

There were way too many children in the bars. They were taking up seats that adults should be sitting in. The Bolero Bar was packed with strollers one evening and we couldn't find a seat, so we left and didn't attempt to try again. We enjoy hopping from bar to bar to play trivia, but every place was packed, some with children, who in my opinion do not belong in bars or lounges. the age should be 18, just like in the states. The kids have areas for them, I don't understand why they are in adult areas.

Rented a UTV and drove around the island on our own. Went to the beach on our own, no paid excursion. Some of our party went on a snorkeling Excursion that they enjoyed.

I’m sorry you found there to be too many kids on your cruise. Royal Caribbean is known for being a family friendly line. Maybe next time try going on a line that doesn’t cater to families as much and you might have a better time. Try Holland America or Princess. A lot of families choose cruising because it provides the adults a great vacation while also spending time with their family. That is definitely one of our favorite reasons we cruise Royal Caribbean. 😄
