This was a nice cruise. I would prefer more stops for an 8 night cruise. 4 days at sea was too much.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth. Royal has improved their process for boarding.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The main dining room food was excellent! We also liked the Solarium, and cafe 270 for anytime treats.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Not enough to do. Lines too long. The virtual reality venue Zone Zero is closed indefinitely as well as the Sky Pad. This made lines for the other activities longer. You know what they do in Sky Pad with the space…corn hole! Ugh.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Not the best. The shows seemed disjointed. Just a bunch of coreographed songs put together. “The Effectors” was an exception. “The Book” was hard to follow.
Children's Programs
Did not travel with children
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Excellent service in the main dining room. Staff around the ship were all professional and friendly.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Ship was very clean, but we like the design of the Oasis Class ships much better than the Quantum ships. Quantum seems more crowded. We missed the big venues, the Aqua theater and ice rink.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
A bit small compared to what we’ve stayed in before. It was an inside cabin so I wasn’t expecting much, but it had two twins and a chair. No room for anything else. Storage above beds, closet and bathroom were good. The cabin was cleaned well daily. Controlling the temperature was easy. Bed pillows were huge. Storage under the beds for luggage was spacious. I let Royal select my cabin to save a few bucks, and they chose one in Forward. Do yourself a favor and pick your own…mid or aft. We had some “motion from the ocean” as the captain called it.
Ship tip
Chair saving on the decks and especially at the Solarium is ridiculous. If you work out at the fitness center or have breakfast first, you will not find a chair anywhere.
We used to be able to get 1/2 tickets for the water park. Not paying that amount of money when we won’t use the full day. Weather was not great. Water is chilly in January. The cove beach was beautiful. The food choices were amazing.
We took a taxi out to Arashi beach and worked our way toward Palm beach snorkeling. It was excellent. Ended at Palm Beach outside the holiday inn. 2 Chairs and umbrella cost $60 to rent. Lots of restaurants to choose from.
