Review summary

This was a great family cruise! There are so many activities/forms of entertainment for everyone in the family. I really enjoyed the ship, food, shows, and ports of call. My only gripe would be the extremely long lines, which is to be expected on a ship of this magnitude so be sure to pack patience! Overall, I would definitely cruise the Oasis again!

Embarkation

Parking was a disaster in PortMiami so be ready for that! BUT, once inside the terminal it was smooth sailing! We were checked in and on the ship in less than 15mins!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5

Sugar Beach℠ / Beach Shop

3 out of 5

Large variety, sky high prices, worker wasn’t very attentive.

Bionic Bar®by Mark Shakr

3 out of 5

Wasn’t too happy with this - one of the tablets for ordering was down, the glass with the orders/time wasn’t working correctly, the robot on the left side seemed to keep getting stuck, and our drinks were weak.

Sorrento's Pizza

3 out of 5

Ok - the pizza was ok. No where near as good as I expected it to be based on the constant long lines of people! I suspect that was because the main dinning and windjammer both close at 9pm!

Windjammer Cafe

5 out of 5

The windjammer was great! We enjoyed the food. Caribbean night was the BEST! The jerk chicken, curry goat, oxtails, curry okra, etc were all quite delicious! The butter chicken on the last night was awesome as well! Can’t complain when there are so many options to choose from, there’s something for everyone!

Johnny Rockets

5 out of 5

Only went here once for breakfast - the BELT sandwich was delicious!

Main Dining Room

4 out of 5

Only went twice - both nights the food was good. Although on lobster night my first lobster was quite mushy - it didn’t have the lobster “chew” to it at all. The servers were very attentive.

El Loco Fresh℠

5 out of 5

Delish! Only issue is the line never seems to end and they close so early (5pm)!

Café Promenade

3 out of 5

Ok, not many options.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the pool, water slides, and the Abyss 10-story slide!

Swimming Pools

Crowded but fun! My son also went on the water slides about 50x and he loved them!

Entertainment

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was clean/well-maintained. This was the smoothest sailing ever - I often had to look out the balcony to see if we were still moving! I love that aspect of being on such a huge ship! However, the layout was very confusing - finally figured things out close to the end of the week, lol.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Some complain the beds are too hard but my hubby and I slept like babies! The room was a nice size for 3 people. We told the room steward to leave the couch as-is (instead of turning it into another bed) because that would’ve taken up too much space/block our path to the balcony. My 11yo slept on it all week and it was just perfect for his size!

Ship tip

Book your shows and make dining reservations as soon as you walk on the ship, they fill up early! Also, breakfast is complementary at Johnny Rockets - no one seems to know that!

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We love Cozumel!! Went to Mr Sanchos a few years back, so decided to hit up Paradise Beach this time and it was amazing! We enjoyed the all inclusive food & drinks, and the beach/pool areas were beautiful. It truly felt like paradise! And it was so easy to catch a taxi there - they’re all lined up waiting for you at the port, $15 each way.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Just say no thank you! The locals back by the taxi area come at you from every angle trying to get you to go with them on an excursion. We ended up getting the price down to $60 from a starting cost of $93 with the first local that wanted to take us to see the monkeys/sloth. Think it really should’ve been more like $25 once we found out we were literally going 3 mins away from the port! We probably could’ve walked!

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
We originally planned on going to the Krazy Lobster until we saw the huge pool/bar/restaurant right there in the port! No need to go any further than that - the pool was huge and there were plenty chairs.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
We did self-assist departure and were scheduled to depart at 7:15am …got there around 6:50 and the line was already a mile long! If you chose this option plan on being there at 6am! We ended up sitting in the Royal Theater for about 45 mins before we started moving…then it was fairly quick, especially if you have a passport.
