All cruises will have some hiccups here and there, but you cannot let it ruin your entire cruise. Even with the few flaws that happen, we love Royal Caribbean. By posting the experiences we had, we hope that they may read them and try to implement some corrections in the areas mentioned.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We arrived at 11:00 am as scheduled. We parked in the garage as we had handicapp parking, went into the terminal with set sail pass, passport and covid vaccination card out. The lady checked us in while standing in line, and we were ready to board. We proceeded down the hall, up the elevator, down the hall and across the gang way and entered the ship by 11:20am. We were in the Windjammer having lunch by 11:30
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The ship's main dining room and specialty restaurant, Chops was a 5, so delicious. However, I must give a 4 overall for the windjammer. The food was very repetitious every day for lunch having the same items available throughout the entire cruise.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We did not do any activities on board.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Due to Hurricane Ian, the stage and diving shows were only by singing only, such as concert style for the protection of the performers with the uneasy seas. We did not attend.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
ALL the personnel on the ship deserves more then a 5 star. They could not have been more accomodating on anything that we asked. They were so polite, courteous and genuinely concerned that any problem you had would be corrected. Even though we did not do much on the ship, the cruise was far superior then others because of the staff and their kindness and expertise in taking care of us.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We loved the layout as it is broken down into neighborhoods and for this reason, even though the ship is huge, you can still take your time and explore the neighborhoods individually. There are so many places to sit along the promenade if you should tire, unlike other ships where seating is limited in the promenade.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was perfect. The balcony was huge, even having a lounge chair on it. We lived on the balcony throughout the cruise. We were traveling with a friend who was right next door, and we were able to have our cabin steward open the front part of the balcony for easy access back and forth rather than having to go out into the hall and over to her cabin. I would like to see them place the bed closer to the balcony as this cabin has the bed next to the closet, leaving limited room to access the closet. It would be much better closer to the balcony door, as 9198 is.
Ship tip
Do not park in the parking garage. We have parked there in May and also this time as well and in both cases, there was only one elevator working. Coming out to go home, we had to stand in a line 45 minutes just to get to the elevator due to only one elevator working. I would rather park in the parking lot across the street as you can just walk out and go your car. No need to wait in that line.
There is very little to do here. We did not get off the ship. The time is very limited. They have buses to Disney, but there is no way that you can go there and back to justify the amount of money you would have invested. They need to give people longer times at this port
Perfect Day at Cocoa Cay is exactly what it says. RCCL delivers a beautfiul day here. We visited the island and stayed in the Oasis Lagoon pool all day. Fantastic cement seats with tables in the water by the bar end. Great music to dance by in the pool. It was perfect for us.
We understand that this port is where most ships are registered. However, we have been here so many times and find that it is mostly a shopping port for those that are not into scuba, swimming with pigs, or beach goers. The walk is very far from the ship into town. We were told that there was no tram, and we can not walk that distance, so we stayed on the ship.
We were told that we had to be up for breakfast at 4am and everyone off the ship by 7am due to another cargo ship docking conflict in Cape Liberty We were given numbers 61 and our number was to be off the ship at 7:25. So we set our clocks for 6am. By the time we awoke, they were announcing that all numbers have been called and everyone is to get off now. Well, the size of this ship, with everyone getting off at one time, WAS NOT A PRETTY EXPERIENCE. This was handled very poorly with tons of people in lines, and when you finally did get to the gang plank, there was other lines coming from other areas, onto the gang way at the same time. I was so concerned that it was going to drop from the overload of not only so many people, but with being that early, the people that were getting off with their luggage were in the same lines. It truly was very disappointing to see this caoas.. I believe it could have been handled better. The next time I will not hurry to get off, I will wait until the lines calm down.
Appreciate your feedback. If you want RCCL to see this, you’ll have to send it to them. Cruise lines don’t monitor this APP. But fellow passengers are happy to have the information.
