Review summary

This was probably my least favorite cruise so far. This was our first short cruise. I prefer longer cruises. The staff shortage was what really made the cruise experience disappointing. It mostly affected the food and drink portion of the cruise experience. The staff did their best, but they desperately needed help. The ship was clean and there's plenty of activities to do onboard. I would definitely cruise on this ship again in the future.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We did the online check-in prior to cruise day. On embarkation day, the whole process took us about 25 minutes. To get from the car, go through security and get on the ship. Very smooth process. It was great!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food overall was good on this sailing. The food in the venues that charge extra were slightly better than complimentary venues.

Boleros Lounge

4 out of 5

Great night spot to dance to Latin music. However, like other bars, it took way too long to get someone's attention to even put in a drink order. I don't blame the staff, they were clearly understaffed.

Windjammer Marketplace

5 out of 5

We only had breakfast here, but the food was really good. The staff was attentive and really nice. The stations were clean and spread out. Though there were a lot of people, none of the stations felt crowded.

El Loco Fresh℠

3 out of 5

The food here was okay. However, it was not worth the wait to get it. The crew on this sailing was noticeably understaffed which effected their efficiency in meeting the demand of hungry passengers in some locations. This location being one of them. This is a complimentary taco/burrito/tex mex grab and go spot. On our sea day the line was very long, even after the lunch rush. When our party made it to the front, after waiting close 25 minutes, there were no quesadillas or burritos( this is the first station). However you could see the crew trying their hardest to get the items restocked. On our previous cruises, getting a quick bite from this venue was easy and quick even on sea days. Not so much for this sailing.

Playmakers℠ Sports Bar & Arcade

5 out of 5

We ate here for lunch. My husband really enjoyed the impossible burger. The regular burger, nachos and wings were pretty good too. The wings are slightly breaded.

Sorrento's Pizza

3 out of 5

According to my husband, this is the perfect pizza for drinking. Not too greasey or doughy. He and my brother-in-law went there every night.

Solarium Bistro

3 out of 5

We only ate here in embarkation day. During the day, it's a small buffet style eatery. The offerings here were a little different than the regular buffet (Windjammer). It seemed to be more Mediterranean type of food. What we ate was just okay.

Globe and Atlas Pub

5 out of 5

We had so much fun at this bar. There was a guitar/singer/ piano player performing on our cruise and he was amazing. Sadly, I don't remember his name, but I could sit in that bar and just vibe. The drinks were good and the staff was wonderful. This was a highlight of our cruise.

Giovanni's Table

4 out of 5

We did lunch here on embarkation day. The food was good. Our party unanimously recommends the Carbonara. It is hands down our favorite dish from this venue.

Main Dining Room

5 out of 5

We really enjoyed the food and service in the main dining room. However, I will say that the duck was dry.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There's plenty to do onboard. Pools and spas were crowded on sea day, but that's a given.

The Perfect Storm℠ waterslide trio

4 out of 5

The green slide was great and tended to have the longer line. Other two were kind of slow.

Ultimate Abyss℠

5 out of 5

This is a dry slide, not a water slide. You use a mat to slide down. The slide takes you from the 16th deck down the the boardwalk, on deck 6. I will note that you have to wear something with sleeves in order to go on this slide. I saw several people turned away, including myself, for not having sleeves. What is frustrating is that thier sign has several rules on it including not wearing any wet clothes on the slide but no where does it say that you need to wear sleeves. So you wait in line for 10- 15 minutes just to find out you can't ride. The ride itself is fun and you should definitely try it, at least once.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The entertainment onboard is pretty good. The Aqua show is by far the best. I would probably skip the ice show on this ship. The DJs onboard were pretty good.

Studio B

5 out of 5

I'd never been ice skating before, but this was definitely a lot of fun. If they have open ice skating, give it try. We loved it!!

AquaTheater

5 out of 5

The Aqua 80s show is amazing. This is our favorite aqua show from any Oasis class ship. It's great a performance set to some of the most memorable 80s music. Dancing, diving, synchronized swimming and aerial show.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
There was a staff shortage on our sailing. This is around the time they increased the guest capacity without having the staff to meet the demand. The staff was trying really hard to meet the guests needs. We waited way too long for drinks at most bars and even the dinning room. Our servers in the main dinning room tried to get our orders in as soon as possible to beat the rush, which we appreciated. Our service in the main dining room was more up to par with what we expect on a cruise. I really hope the Cruiselines are able to increase their staff because it really has an affect on the guest experience.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a balcony cabin. It had plenty of storage space. It was clean. It had plenty of space for my husband and me. The bed was comfortable and so was the couch.

Ship tip

Try to enjoy some of the activities on embarkation day. Most of the top deck attractions are open(pools, spas, slides, rock climbing wall, zip line, flowrider). They will be the least crowded on embarkation day, especially if you have an early embarkation time.

Ports of call

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Nice port with a variety of activities. The fresh water pool area was nice and lively on one side and fairly quiet on the other. The food was okay. Several stations had the same thing(hotdogs, hamburgers and fries, salads, bbq chicken, etc). I don't need to go back to this port.

Miami, Florida

5 out of 5
We live in South Florida.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Disembarkation was not as quick as I have experienced in the past.
